Black Parchment

Black parchment has the general appearance and durability of normal parchment, with the one notable difference being that it is a dark bluish-black color. This parchment is highly sought after by spell casters, as it absorbs spells as easily as normal parchment absorbs ink.

Speciality inks are required to prepare this parchment to accept a spell, and generally cost as much as normal scroll inks (when available). Once imbued, the inks aren't visable to anyone who are unable to use such a spell. To casters who are able to use the spell, holding the scroll will cause the inks to glow slightly, making the incantation visable. Production of a spell scroll from black parchment takes approximately half as long as normal.

Another significant use for black parchment is in the production of spellbooks. Many spellbooks will contain at least a section containing black parchment, as spells written upon thosse pages cannot be read by anyone other the owner of the spellbook.

Black parchment is made from the hide of the Wilder Stag.

If the owner of a spellbook casts illusory script on their spellbook, they can designate several creatures to be able to read part or all of the spells contained therein.
