Carid Marshlands
The marshlands of Carid are a foreboding place. Very little farming can b done in the region, and the few people that make their home there are usually fugitives of the law, or pirates. However, within the marshlands, it is said that a city built by Men before the Great Madness still exists, and many an adventurer has gone in search of this mysterious city- all coming back empty-handed, or not at all.
Geography
The Carid Marshlands are the lowest elevated spot on the Western Plain, and as such are subject to frequent flooding. The ground is very muddy, and it is difficult to even walk through the region, much less try to build in it. As such, it is largely left alone by Men, except for those escaping the law or wanting to be alone. To the north is Anost, a remnant of the great forest that once covered the Western Plain from north to south.
Fauna & Flora
Mangroves are extremely common in the Carid Marshlands, as well as many water plants and bushes. Songbirds, cranes, ospreys, and hawks are common, as well as deer, boars, and leopards. Crocodiles swim in the relatively warm waters, eating anything that comes too close to the water, or any of the large variety of fish that also live in the water.
Natural Resources
Few natural resources exist in the marshlands, and most people tend to avoid it if they can. Anything that could be of benefit to Men inside the marshlands could most likely be found in another place in greater abundance, and the marshlands are a dangerous place.
