Karlik

Karlik is a predominantly dwarven nation in the northwestern corner of Maanosa. Lying just south of the other dwarven land of Kreblik, Karlik focuses on technological advancements over other goals while Kreblik is more focused on trade with other nations. The Jagged Mountains border the western edge of Karlik, and where much of the country's population lives. Mt. Firbolg stands within the borders of Karlik, although it has been many years since its last eruption.

Territories

Karlik is one of two ancestral lands for the dwarves of Maanosa. Due to differences in utilizing the minerals found within the rich Jagged Mountains, Karlik split from Kreblik to pursue more technological advancements. While there were tensions during this split, the two nations are now very strong allies and work together to achieve both nation's goals. Much of the western edge of Karlik is dominated by the Jagged Mountains, and contains the dreaded Mt. Firbolg within its borders.

Military

Karlik is not a very militaristic country, focusing more on technological advancements. That is not to say, however, that they have not put those ambitions towards improving their military. Since the Eastern Storm, the Council of Engineers has pushed to modernize their military with new gadgets. Rumours have been spreading that the Council has commissioned devices that can launch pieces of iron at their foes, although these have not been fielded against any enemy.

Technological Level

Karlik is the most advanced nation on a technological level. Due to their close connection to Kreblik and their abundant supply of rare minerals, they are able to focus on industry. They have developed rudimentary dynamite to assist in clearing out mine shafts to dig deeper into the mountains. There are many grants to assist tinkerers within Karlik, promoting the construction of clockworks throughout the nation. Every major city has at least 1 clockworks within it, where the Council of Engineers is providing the costs for building upkeep and the wages of any who use the facilities.

Religion

While Karlik has no official religion, many of the citizenry worship Razrabotka the God of Crafts. Hisad the God of Agriculture is another commonly worshipped God among the farmers above ground. Juribul the God of Children is among the other two as being the most worshipped in Karlik. The worship of Demon Lords is very limited, with Costeroth the Lord of Heat being the most common, albeit a very small minority of the greater populace.   All other Demon Lords and Gods are worshipped, but very rarely in any organized fashion.

Foreign Relations

Karlik holds a strong alliance with Kreblik to the north. As both rely on mining the Jagged Mountains for their rare and valuable minerals, the two have a defensive alliance that they have held for many centuries.   The ruling Council of Engineers deeply suspect the Shaleskian magocracy to the east. Relations are strained between the two nations, but neither side has shown to have any desire to move against one another at this stage.   The orcish lands of Gebra and Omckra mostly see to themselves and as such, the Council of Engineers have a neutral view towards them.   Beyond the borders of the neighbouring nations, the Council of Engineers has little experience in trade or diplomacy.
