Shchar

Shchar are an immortal quadripedal species from a planet of only predators. They appear dim-witted, but Shchar individuals are some of the most intelligent in the galaxy. They had to be in order to tame their planet and lift themselves to the stars. Living on a planet of only large, semi-intelligent hunter species, Shchar came to believe that every living thing has a soul, and there are specific places all souls and all things should be, a philosophy known as "mjes v vsete". Shchar believe that they were granted intelligence and immortal souls by higher beings to be the guardians of mjes v vsete.

Basic Information

Anatomy

The Shchar are a tall quadripedal species built for war, growing to four meters on average. The species evolved on a planet of the fiercest predators in the known galaxy, and wasn't near the top of the foodchain when they evolved intelligence. They're covered in green chitinous plates with brown skin underneath. They have two arms each with three segments, and four large fingers on the end. On their chests Shchar have two smaller arms that are barely prehensile. Their upside-down triangular heads have widely spaced eyes and even more fingers near their mouths, to make it easier for them to eat living prey. Their mouths sport multiple rows of wide sharp teeth that can replace the front rows when one breaks, like shark teeth. Shchar feet have three separate hooves. Rather than use their mouths for breathing, Shchar breath through gills on the sides of their necks, and the mouth is only used for eating.

Growth Rate & Stages

Shchar typically begin to talk at 2 years old, and walk at 4. Their chest arms begin to grow at 8 years old, and are fully grown at 14, when a shchar is of warrior age.

Additional Information

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Shchar have antenna rather than ears. These antenna are hypersensitive to noise, but are poor at picking up directions. Shcharn eyes are evolved to see IR, a trait that allowed them to hunt better at night.
