Drekiforada or The Night Mare

The drekiforada is known as the dragon horse and the nightmare. Before Mika Tsuki brought horses from Gaia, these creatures were ridden and used.

Basic Information

Anatomy

The drekiforada have four legs and two wings attached on their back. Their appearance varies just as all Drakos (Which include Dragons) do. Some are feathered and others scaled. They are slim built and similar to horses in structure.

Genetics and Reproduction

The drekiforada reproduce sexually. Unlike most other Drakos they do not lay eggs but give birth to live young.

Growth Rate & Stages

Like most Drakos they do not become full grown until they reach around 200 in Gaian years. This is 20 of our own years on Lysandus. They are born live and with in hours they master walking. If the drekiforada has wings they will learn to fly with in a few days after birth. Recent sightings of these creatures in the wild has shown a reduced wing size and even loss of wings.

Ecology and Habitats

They dwell mostly in fields and meadows when in the wild. They graze in these fields and scavenge upon carcasses when they find them. They are not a truly domesticated species but when they choose to work with Gaian's or other Drakos they often share stables with horses.

Dietary Needs and Habits

In the wild they eat grasses and scavenge carcasses. They are omnivores but do not hunt.

Additional Information

Domestication

Drekiforada are not considered a domestic species but rather a collaborative species. It will willingly work along side others.

Uses, Products & Exploitation

In history Drekiforada was used as a pack creature for chariots as well as for riding.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Drekiforada have both monocular and binocular vision like horses do but unlike horses they are tetrachromats just as the birds of Gaia (Earth) are, meaning they can see UV light as well as the visible light spectrum Gaians see in.
