The Nation of Lunarmyre
Lunarmyre; a distant, mystical island in far-off waters. This island is uiquely blessed with the magic of an unnamed Lunar Goddess, whose blessing renew themselves every full moon or Lunar event. For 350 years, the magic has persisted and mutated the land, its fauna, flora, natural resources and residents. Lunar game like deer and fish prove to be exotic food items, moonstone can be found naturally reoccurring within mines, and more. The one-of-a-kind resources have made it a superpower recently, thanks to its expanding into overseas trade for a few decades now. The island is undergoing technological and magical advancements, and it's economy is booming. In the last year, the usual monarchal structure was distrupted when the late king names his twin sons, Maxemillion and Daxterous Lunax, to rule jointly rather than under a sole leader. The island is within its first year of the new ruling system, and it has caused much disruption and many tensions in the island. Still, Lunarmyre continues to thrive now more than ever, and many overseas have begun to travel to the radiant island in search of their own fame and fortune.
Structure
This kingdom, once a monarchy, is now a corregency. It's rule is split in half, with Max and Dax seperately ruling over the regions Zenith and Penumbra, respectively. Max's domain, Zenith, has two cities and one town: Dawndale, the capital, Eclipson, and Mooreview. Penumbra, ruled by Dax, has two towns and one city: Wavemeet, Sunken Shore, and Duskvale. Each city is governed by one of the six noble families who were here since the royal family established the island, with the king's overseeing their rule ultimately.
Culture
The culture here shifts depending on the region, but it all is tied to the gifts that are provided by the land itself.
The Zenith Region is categorized by warriors, artifice and trade, where might makes right.
The Penumbra region has a host of mages, artisans and educators, where mages make the wages.
Though the regions have different leanings and priorities, the organizations and people of Lunarmyre all honor, at their base, the Goddess of Lunarmyre and the blessings she brings.
Public Agenda
Zenith: 1) Secure the Borders of Lunarmyre
2) Expand trade networks domestically and internationally
3) Eliminate bandit, terrorist and pirate threats
4) Train Elite Warriors for the future generations
Penumbra: 1) Enhance Magical defenses and barriers of Lunarmyre
2) Strengthen scholarly alliances domestically and internationally
3) Research and neutralize monster threats
4) Promote education, knowledge, and research opportunities
Assets
Though its net worth isn't public, billions of gold has fluctuated in and out of the island over the last 60 years alone; a primary reason why Lunarmyre is able to propel itself forward technologically. Its kings have massive capital between them, large naval fleets, port towns and defenses that dot protect its borders, as well as the magic of Lunarmyre itself. Though bandits and pirates still find their way on land, the waters around Lunarmyre are plagued by sea monsters who are attracted to the magic of the surrounding waters, which, on a full moon, become impassible by ship thanks to violent torrents surrounding the island. Most cities also have heavy fortifications, magical defenses and magic users, artificed equipment, mounts of magical and mundane quality, and have also recently entered the smokeless powder age in the last decade. Thanks to the abundance of magic materials on the island, its not uncommon to see magical weapons and defenses used even by the common farmer to defend his land. All major cities also have walls or other fortifications surrounding them that make encroaching upon them difficult. Additionally, the established and expanding travel network via railroad, overland and waterways have proved efficient in moving resources and supplies around the island.
History
Claimed to have established around 350 years ago, Lunarmyre was mostly unheard of until their outreach in the 100 years. The kings won't claim a certain date or year of it's founding, rather a rough estimate. The island has seen six kings before it's current seventh and eighth ruler, the most recent one passing in the last year. The public lore and knowledge of the island is still obscure, but a few things are clear: The royal family found and claimed Lunarmyre in its first days, and formed a pact with an unnamed Lunar Goddess, currently referred to as The Goddess of Lunarmyre. The land first experienced its magical phenomena in it's early days, though records indicate that the current mutations from the magic are far superior, according to current data. Thanks to the magical nature of the land, monsters, bandits, pirates and more have threatened Lunarmyre, and its royalty have struggled with securing it's borders, protecting its people, and making the land prosper.
In the years 1-45, King Lunax I ruled until he died of natural causes, leaving much to be done in the land still.
In the years 45-117, King Lunax II began to form the first structures of the church and all towns, as well as begin to secure borders and even send voyages beyond the land, with little success. He passed of natural causes.
In the years 117-119, King Lunax III was regarded as a heretic. This king rejected all teachings of the goddess, denouncing her faith and announced wanting to end the blessings the goddess bestows. Though the cirucmstance is unclear, he was assassinated in his sleep in the late hours in the year 119.
In the years 119-206, King Lunax IV was a well groomed king, regarded as the main reason why the current infrastructure of Lunarmrye exists today. He was the first king to successfully establish overseas trade, and also saw the establishment of all guilds and organizations recognized by the crown under his rule; brining a sense of unity to Lunarmyre, He passed of natural causes.
In the years 206-239, King Lunax the V died earlier in his rule thanks to the tumultuous changes within Lunarmyre, At this point, the magical mutations began to propagate, and the island saw higher numbers of magical beasts and monsters, which in turn also brought more foreign threats. He pushed for more schooling and training within the island, to better understand the land and the threats it faces. He died from a monster insurgence within the capital, where it was overrun briefly. He son was reportedly born the night he was slain, and his heir rose to succession the next day, overseen by his mother until he was of age.
In the years 239-349, King Lunax VI is considered the most accomplished, and also lived for an astounding 120 years. He secured borders with better reforms, formed a respectable military and education system, and created an infrastructure that lasted and was able to sustain overseas trade. The island saw rapid developments, and civilizations expanded, as well as immigrant and foreign arrivals, seeking new straits and possibilities in the Radiant Isle. In the last year of his rule, the well-respected king split the rule between his twin sons, Max and Dax, for reasons unknown to the public. He died of natural causes.
The current rule, from year 349-350, the twin kings Max and Dax Lunax have split their rule into two distinct regions: Zenith and Penumbra. In just a single year, major trade and technological advancements have been seen, and on paper, the island is doing better than ever. However, tensions between the two kings are sewing seeds in Lunarmyre that leaves its future uncertain.
