Mooreview

Mooreview, also known as the hub of trade and travel, is a unique location for merchants and travelers alike. This is where most foreigners are brought and what they see on their first visit to Lunarmyre, and has much to behold. The portside town borders and intermingles with Lunar Lake, a lake with abundant aquatic wildlife that practically begs to be caught. There are also many opporunities for trade, many ways to relax like the casino or the taverns, and this town is positioned perfectly to travel to almost any desination in the island. With the railway starting on on the mountain to its east, the lake leading to rivers that connect to all lakes spanning across Lunarmyre, and established overland roads and bridges, Mooreview serves as a good starting point for all.

Government

Is mayored by the noble Tom Hiddleton, and is overseen by King Maxemillion Baytix. Mooreview falls under the jurisdiction of the Zenith region, and adheres to its laws and regulations. The mayor also works in tandem in royal emissaries, as well as officials from the Merchant's association to oversee the defenses and commerce of the town.

Defences

The port town commands a sizable navy, with galleys and even one man-o-war. The lake itself poses a great barrier from attacks, though Lunar lake sees very few assaults. The Starview mountain range to its west, and the Walking woods forest, in combination with the lake all create great land barriers from assault. The the town has a staff of hired warriors, mercenaries and sellswords who are employed by Tom Hiddleton personally. They are often armed with ranged equipment, light blades and leather armor. These warriors create defensive barracks and toll gates around the settlement, taking turns in keeping watch, where they rotate in and out of the guard barracks. A small deployment of royal forces are also stationed here, with one talented wizard and a small squadron of Solar Knights.

Industry & Trade

With the lake on its side, and being a point of travel for all foreigners, as well as a returning point for many Lunamyrians, the economy here thrives on the trade overseen by the Merchant's association, as well as it's harvesting of magical wildlife from the Lunar Lake, and the cultivation of magical crops thanks to the properties of the water and soil around the lake. Many that live here are traders, fishermen, hunters and agriculturists. Because of the ever-changing goods that flow in and out, you will sometime never see the same fish or item twice in the markets, before it ends up somewhere else. Often times, an item that has circulated the island or been bough elsewhere likely came from store or merchant within Mooreview.

The shopping district commonly has up to rare quality magic items, and the guards are commonly equipped with at least two magic items per standard. The rich resources from Lunar Lake also bring constant riches into the town.

Guilds and Factions

The Noble Hiddleton Family, and the mayor of Mooreview Tom Hiddleton has primary influence, though he is overseen by king Max.

The Merchant's association has it's HQ here by the docks, and is overseen by both kings, as well as the mayor.

History

This town is as old as it's founding, being the first town discovered supposedly when the royal family and the nobles landed here 350 years ago. Though that time, it has grown to be the largest town in the island, often being considered a small city thanks to the massive amount of travel and tourism. The one thing that has always stood out about this location is its strategic geographical placement, as well as well as the magical lake that provides fruitful bounties. The Hiddleton family has done well to make the land prosper, though many whisperings of dark dealings and shifty promises have flown around about the family for years.

Tourism

Thanks to the rumors of the island, many come to island, with Mooreview being their first sight. Because of this, the industrious Lenny invented a casino in his name, and his casino has become a reason why may visit the town. The massive market district takes up over half the town, and leaves many wandering its streets for hours as well. Many taverns also call this town their home.

Architecture

The town primarily uses oak wood, stone bricks tiles in its building, favoring pitch angled roofs and pointed arches. Many of the cobblestone paths are lit by magic lamps, and lead to the many districts around town, as well as the creaky wooden docks that smell of the lake. The grandest buildings are the Mayor's estate, which is a layered mansion with a garden and furnishings enough for several familes; The Casino, which is a massive structure with marble pillars, gilded walls, ornate interiors with lavish furniture and dress codes that denote a higher level of society; and The church of the Lunar Goddess, a simple yet ornate marble and stone structure that stands a pearlescent white with blue hues to it, and the symbol of the goddess at its top.

Geography

Mooreview stands partially as a water-front town, running along Lunar lake, bordering the Starview mountain range and was build on flat rassland just next to the Walking Woods and the Gazing Meadows. Some establishments sit on waterfronts next to the docks, while others are built on paved roads. The town sits in the middle of all of these geographical locations, benefiting from it all. This restless town is a hub of trade and travel and is further beautified by the glistening waters and the lunar skies overhead, topped off with the lunar insects and animals that come from the forest and meadow and add color and livelihood to the nightlife.

To the north of the town is the Walking Woods, home of treeants, a family of wood elves and other creatures, where they keep a constant guard on the border between the town and the woods thanks to the occassinal dangers that come from within. A road does lead out the forest, but trails off before long. Gaurds permit or block people from passing beyond this point depending on who they are. To the northeast is the Gazing Meadows, a relatively small and safe woods where normal hunters gather and children play during the day. The greenery here encompasses the entirety of the northern view just before the beach, creating lush surroundings to the busy town.

Southwest of the town is the national Railway, which is connected to the Starview Mountain range that spans most of the isle. It stansd as a massive plateau avove the town on its Western side a few miles out, provding much shade and overcast in the area. To the south and south east and east is the entirety of Listeners Lake, the highest lake in the isle and where many fish gather of a colder variety with tougher scales. Indeed, this town of Mooreview is a mystical sight with its restless markets, its ever moving people, the wildifre and game that exist here naturally, and the lakes and mountains that create its unique geography.

Climate

The area here is usually cool at night thanks to the lake, but depending on the temperature, it can become incredibly muggy, humid, or frigid thanks to the cold waters.

Natural Resources

The surrounding lakes, forests and mountains all provide many opportunities for hunting and gathering, providing resources outside of those received from trading. The aquatic wildlife of Lunar lake, the fauna and Flora of Walking Woods and Manic Meadows, and the ores found within mines still being tunneled in the Starview railway, the town in all of its 350 years, has yet have a shortage of goods and resources.
