Triatol

The Kingdom of Treifenburn is known for its high quality stone export, especially that which it was able to provide to the construction of The Citadel. This is partially due to the rather rich nature of the Causline mountains, which provides a dark black stone that seems to disappear when subjected to darkness. Triatol is the site of the most quarries in the kingdom, possibly the entire world, and the miners work tirelessly day and night to keep up their record breaking (and back breaking) pace.

Demographics

Mostly human and dwarf with half-elf and elf mixed in. There are some gnomes that have helped provide inventions that make mining the dark stone of the the Causline Mountains easier.

Government

Lord Evidia Fornacis, head of Apex Corporation, is the leader of the town. He was appointed by King Urtien Ferwyn of Treifenburn two decades ago to greatly expand the mining capabilities of the region.

Defences

High, dark stone walls surround the town, with another interior wall protecting the quarries as an extra form of protection. There are only two gates in, one at the north end and one at the south end, and each is continuously manned by a contingent of guards to ensure the safety of their mines.

Districts

Quarries: Perhaps the most distinctive part of Triatol is it's Quarry District. These are located at the back of the settlement, nestled at the bottom of the Causline Mountains. They are easy to distinguish even from the outskirts of the city by the large cranes that help lift the dark stone up and out of the quarries. This district is constantly patrolled by mercenaries of the Apex Corporation, each of them watching to make sure that the miners are continuing their work and so that no one can break into the area. The walls that lie around this district are also manned at all times, with ballistae pointed both towards the rest of the city and towards the quarries.
The Market: The center of the town, the creatively named Market is the spot where people go to sell their wares to both the regular residents of the city as well as the miners that keep the stone flowing. During the daytime, this area is full of tents and carts of all sorts of colors and sizes hawking different wares from jewelry to food to clothing and everything in between.

Guilds and Factions

Apex Corporation: The Apex Corporation is the premier mining company of Triatol and has been in operation for over two hundred years. The company got its start mining the black stone of the Causline mountains, and has been expanding its operations of the same. However, in recent years, they have been working on branching out into different areas of the Hyperion Empire as well as different industries. Part of this is their work in obtaining gaisma from the mountains south of Mornage.

Points of interest

Fornacis Manor: This manor house partially up the mountain seemed to popup overnight when Lord Evidia came into power in the city. One day there had been nothing but mountain, and, the next, it was replaced by a magnificent manor house. It is two storied with five different towers spiraling into the air. While most of the rest of the town is made of the quarried dark stone Triatol is known for, Fornacis Manor is made of a pristine, bright white rock mined from the northern end of Treifenburn. This fact is a point of contention for the residents of the town, though not many are willing to publicly voice their frustration.
