Personal history

Kristoph Ebensen grew up one of the few dwarves in the quickly growing city of Mornage. His father was a monk of the Praesidium Archive, and his mother was an aide to a member of the Sovereign's Council. Kristoph grew up already chosen to follow in his father's footsteps at the Archive, and he was given the best education the monks had to offer. There, he learned all about ancient civilizations and the artifacts and buildings within, and he knew he wanted to learn everything he possibly could about those beings that walked Lumarvis before him. For each of his different expeditions, he wrote his experiences in his journal, keeping a running log of everything he encountered.   When first leaving the Praesidium Archive, Kristoph's first mission was to the Direhold Mountains in search of different dwarven cities that were said to be beneath the stone peaks. There, he found Khal Thoram, still occupied by a clan of dwarves that welcomed him with open arms. However, as much fun as he had with his kin, he knew he needed to move on.   Next on his list was something he encountered only briefly during his time at the Praesidium Archive: Remnants of Eternity. What little research had already been done on these items, Kristoph knew that these were mostly items that had been created by the Celestials. The one in particular he was most interested in was Moradin's Fury, a battleaxe crafted by the Dwarven god Moradin that had been lost for millennia. At Khal Thoram, he asked them everything he could about these legendary artifact, and he was surprised to find that hardly anyone knew what he was talking about. While at the dwarven city, however, he found an ancient looking forge tended to by a master blacksmith, Thorman Steelforge, his name given from the way he was able to bend metal seemingly to his will with his blacksmithing skill.   When Kristoph approached this men about Moradin's Fury, the dwarf seemed surprised that someone else knew about it, and he told Kristoph how the Axe was sundered during the Primal Age, and the pieces were scattered to the wind, lost to the ages. Kristoph made a promise to Thorman: He was going to find the pieces and bring them back to be reforged. Thorman chuckled at the notion, but Kristoph didn't mind. Even if the man didn't believe him, once he set his mind to something, he knew he was going to accomplish it.   And so he set off on a journey across Lumarvis, from the Treibsand Desert to the Deurithred Dynasty across the Deuridian Ocean, searching for the pieces of Moradin's Fury. Eventually, after years of hunting, he found one piece of the head of the axe in the Blackpeak Mountains, in a cave hidden behind a hardened lava flow. Kristoph returned to Thorman, who was surprised to even see the archaeologist return, and verified that it was a piece of the fabled axe. However, he heard tell of another item on his travels, one that made him leave the piece of the axe with the blacksmith and set off on the adventure of a lifetime: The Hallow Jar.   What Kristoph had heard about the Hallow Jar was few and far between, mostly fairy tales that parents told their children as bedtime stories. Sprinkled in the stories were tidbits of the truth, and it was this truth that he was clinging to and searching for the find the relic and determine where it may lie. He ventured through the Maramis Forest, searching up and down the Kaldrfold Mountains. He crossed the sands of the Treibsand Desert, desperately peering over the dunes for any sign of the artifact. Finally, he heard a tale of a temple hidden in the Urwald Jungle. He traveled there, going down the Keurenti River with a tribe of native warriors. The temple was in pristine condition, much too pristine for its age, but he couldn't find any way in. After studying the temple for several days, all the while his tribal guides growing more and more nervous, something from within the temple lashed out at him and killed him and the guides. Their bodies were found at the mouth of the Keurenti River, as if they never traveled down it. Ebensen's journal, however, lived on, just waiting for someone to happen upon it.
