Gaisma

Gaisma is a unique material in the world of Lumarvis. It was first discovered by human settlers within the mountains south of present day Mornage, not too far from what is now the Cindermane Bastion. It is a purple and green crystal that seems rather plain at first glance. However, first glances can be rather deceiving. With no external aid, this crystal is able to glow and emit bright light out to 30 feet. This crystal is incredibly useful in mines and other areas where a flammable light source is dangerous, as the light generates no heat. They are also frequently found in the homes of the incredibly wealthy as a status symbol.
Trade of the crystal is controlled by Phoenix Blood Industries, a mining corporation formerly known as Ganorash Stone Company. Founded by Ganorash Hacite, a half-orc business man originally from the Kingdom of Aervia just outside the Swamps of Urshok, it originally dealt mostly with stones that were used for construction. However, Ganorash managed to find a untapped vein of Gaisma within the Primordial Shore that has allowed him to drastically expand his business. Keeping to the name of his business, he calls the processed gaisma he sells Phoenix Stone for the way it continuously glows.

Material Characteristics

A quartz-like crystal, gaisma is typically found either purple or green, or a combination of the two, though it is also rarely found as a deep, crimson red.

Physical & Chemical Properties

Gaisma emits bright light in a 30 foot radius and dim light an additional 30 feet. It is cool to the touch, almost seeming to drain all the heat from whoever holds it.

Geology & Geography

Gaisma is found in the Keamaer Mountains south of Mornage, as well as within the Primordial Shore. It is random in the depth of its occurrence, with some of the veins -- though long depleted -- being found near the surface while others are found at the cusp of the Underdark and beyond.

Origin & Source

Gaisma is found independent of any ore, with the veins themselves seeming to form where leylines in the world travel through stone. Though not found along the entirety of the leylines, they are also found where a leyline lies.
