The Sons of the Scarab

Watchers in the Darkness

They have agents infiltrated in most factions in the world   The Sons os the Scarab have been preparing for war with Metatron and his followers

History:

The Sons of the Scarab were founded by the immortal mage Imhotep, as an organization that would safeguard the world and it's secrets from any who would seek to destroy or control it. They trace their origins to a group of scribes and priests that followed Imhotep, and helped him concoct his ritual that made him immortal, and had to flee with him running from his mage compatriots. From that point onwards they would hide in plain sight, looking for secrets and artifacts, keeping them safe from anyone that would use them for evil.

Imhotep's Rise:

A Master os many fields, be they mundane or magical, Imhotep craved knowledge, all of it in the world, but knew he could not attain it all in a single lifetime, so he did the unthinkable: He Became Immortal. Using forbbiden magicks, hidden inside the Pyramids of kings passed, Imhotep learned of ancient necromantic rituals that could make his life unending, and so he did. On the eve of his 40th Birthday, he enacted a ritual to create a Philactery, that would hold his soul, all the while he created several copies of himself, that in turn would be controlled by his intact mind and Avatar. But his blasphemous actions would not go unnoticed. His peers, all Egyptians who deified the concept of death and the afterlife, saw his actions as heresy of the highest order. By denying himself the Ma'at, Imhotep had gone against nature itself. He did not care for their beliefs, for a Craft that worshiped the accumulation of knowledge like the NGoma, it was foolish to relay all that to future generations that might not know what to do with it. For Imhotep, to acquire all the knowledge in the world was the ultimate goal, so as to better understand the cosmos and his part in it. But his peers did not see it that way, at least, not all of them.

Marked for death by his colleagues, he had to flee his beloved Egypt, perhaps for good, which he only achieved because of his followers. After he became clear of danger, Imhotep decided to form an organization to further his goals and to shepherd humanity with the knowledge he would acquire. The so called "Sons of the Scarab" would seek out knowledge all thru out the world, and bring it to him, in exchange, he would extend their lives, making the Scarabs some of the most powerful mages in existence. The rogue mage had built himself his Pyramid, with his students and acolytes making the base, and at the top sat Imhotep.

The Watchers in the Dark:

Ever since their creation, the Sons of the Scarab have traveled the world, both spiritual and physical, in order to protect humanity and it's secrets. To that end, Imhotep recruited not just mortals, but also other Supernaturals as well. It is rumored that the SotS have people in every major organization in the world, from Garou to Vampires and Mages and Wraiths, even the Technocratic Union have been infiltrated by the Bugs. But with such a vast network, comes information, Imhotep and the Sons are privy to almost all political developments in the world of darkness, even helping protect the planet and the spirit realm when they were threatened.

Their mission was to search for knowledge and secrets, and they have done so for millennia, amassing a vast library of unrivaled proportions in magical, occult and even scientific knowledge from all civilizations. To stash such formidable archive, they have Sanctuaries, secret lairs that act as safe-houses, arsenals and bases of operation for the Scarabs. Inside these are a vast array of copies of many original manuscripts, which are stored in warded and guarded vaults named Vaults of Glass. It is rumored that their Headquarters is deep in the Umbra, passing the Shroud and into the Shadowlands, a place spoken off only in whispers: The Black Pyramid.

Structure

The Sons of the Scarab are highly organized, in a fashion that mimics the old Egyptian social structure, with each cast having a title that reflects their role.
  • The Pharaoh of Knowledge: The Leader of the Scarabs, the only one to occupy this role has been Imhotep, as he is the supreme leader of the organization.
  • The Keepers: Are advisors to the Pharaoh, they each run a Sanctuary, keeping the Scarab's secrets and knowledge safe and acting as ad hoc leaders in local crises and developments. They also are the ones to coordinate operations in the Sanctuary's area, these include: the gathering of knowledge; subduing of threats; infiltrating potential organizations and gathering potential allies.
  • The Scribes: Are the archivists of the Scarabs, keeping track and even working in the field to recover artifacts, texts and other objects of interest for the Sons of the Scarab. They also care for each Vault of Glass in the Sanctuaries.
  • The Medjay: Are the more martial inclined members of the Scarabs, they are recruited for their combat prowess, whether magical or not. They are the ones that keep their fellow Scarabs safe, alongside the Sanctuaries. These warriors protect the Vaults of Glass and their secrets, as well as going on field assignments whenever more additions to these collections are found, being augmented with powerful artifacts when needed. They also act as police within the walls of the Sanctuaries, looking out for invasions and infiltrators from other organizations.
  • The Eyes: Are the main foundation and the strategic pillar upon which Imhotep gains more power. These are in the allies/members of the Scarabs that are infiltrated deep within other organizations all across the world. Their job is to serve Imhotep by warning of dangers, potential secrets to be added to the collection, political happenings and mystical occurrences.
