Monmurg
Summary
Monmurg is the only settlement upon the Hold of the Sea Princes, and serves as a trading post and temporary lodge for the many pirate crews that sail past the island. It is an unofficial capitol amongst the Sea Princes.Politics
While the island once belonged to the royal Makt Family, and therefore its only remaining member Magellan Makt, the island became under control of the Sea Princes when they fled from Keoland during King Skotti's conquest of the Saltmarsh Region. Makt was made an unwilling participant in an alliance between himself and the pirate warlords, allowing them residence upon the island and all decision-making authority. Monmurg is a chaotic place, so laws are little more than scoffed at afterthoughts. Denizens of the city are expected to understand the Pirate Code, which is largely interpreted by each individual engaging in it. Any "official" changes to the Pirate Code are done so at the Sea Prince Town Hall, where rules are proposed by any member of the Sea Princes and put to a vote by the congregation. In the event of a tie, the crown of Monmurg votes as a tie breaker.Pirate Crews
The Sea Princes are made up of a confederation of pirate crews-- each distinctly different from one another. Although there are almost a hundred smaller crews, the larger crews tend to command more authority through their sheer size. Being the epicenter of a thousand rouge cultures, Monmurg has flourished over the years as a mecca of immense trade. Items from far and wide find their ways into the shops of Traderville (although plenty are stolen goods), while an even more impressive array of rare items and breathtaking artifacts can be found at the Grand Market.
