The Thunderbird Confederacy

The Thunderbird Confederacy is the result of first Odawa Peacemaker bringing the five Orcish, three Goblin tribes, and the single tribe of man together to talk of peace and forge a new path for their united people. Though the Orcs dominate the Confederacy, as they have more people than all the rest, all the peoples of the Farplains seem to be satisfied with Orcish rule. They say that the Confederacy has lived in peace with itself for more than a thousand generations, but that every Orc is a warrior and can defend themselves with terrible violence if provoked or endangered.   The people of the Confederacy seem to care little for the happenings outside of their vast, rolling grasslands, though some young warriors have braved the wider world and left the safety of the Confederacy to seek out fame and fortune in the wider world. These warriors are exiled from their tribe, never to return, and considered dead to their old family.   There have been minor skirmishes fought between the Thunderbird Confederacy and the Imperium Vulcanalia, though relations are now generally peaceful between the two.

The Five Orcish Tribes

  TRIBE OF THE BLUE EYES
Said to be the wisest of the tribes of the Farplains, Orcs of the Blue Eyes make the greatest sorcerers and beastmasters of the Confederacy. They have the largest herds of bison and the swiftest hunting falcons, and are some of the surest trackers in the world. Orcs of the Blue Eyes often become advisors to the Peacemaker.   THE BONEBREAKER TRIBE
The tribe of Odawa Bonebreaker, who took the name Peacemaker later in life, are the traditional leaders of the Thunderbird Confederacy. When a Bonebreaker becomes the Chief of the Plains it is customary for them to assume the name Odawa Peacemaker and forget their old identity. Bonebreakers have little aptitude for magic, but they are fierce warriors and some of the strongest creatures in the world.   THE DREADNAUGHT TRIBE
The bravest and most foolhardy warriors of the Farplains tribes, the Dreadnaughts are the most likely to strike out from the Confederacy and live and work in the Imperium. There is no challenge they wont undertake, and no fight they wont face without a song in their hearts. They are famed for their hunts of the Thunder Lizards that roam the Farplains.   THE GIANT'S BANE TRIBE
Said to the the greatest warriors of the tribes of the Farplains, it is a rite of adulthood for the girls and boys of their tribes on the cusp of adulthood to go into the thin beech woods of the Farplains and slay a giant. A Giant's Bane Orc cannot be considered a member of their tribe after their fifteenth birthday if they do not wear a necklace of giant's teeth they have made themselves.   TRIBE OF THE WINTER BEAR
The northernmost tribe, they live on the cold waters of the northern bays. Instead of taming bison and other plains creatures, the Tribe of the Winter Bear are famed for raising their large white winter bears. They also build canoes and are more at home on the water than most Orcs.

The Three Goblin Tribes

  THE AHANU TRIBE
The most Orc-like of the Goblin tribes, to the point it is said they once married freely between each other, these folk live in lock-step with their green cousins. They make fine beastmasters and are willing to fight foes many times their size.   THE NIGHTSHADE TRIBE
These Goblins are known as cunning potion makers and adventurous eaters, who know plants and herbs and their multitude of uses better than any other people of Epona.   TRIBE OF THE WANDERING SPIRIT
These Goblins are known for following the whims of their hearts and the guidance of the stars. They have a wanderlust deep within them, and are charming, kind creatures keen to explore unseen lands with brave companions.

The Tribe of Man

  THE TRIBE OF THE THUNDERER
This tribe of man live intermingled with the other tribes of the Farplains. Their name is said to come from a great hero of ancient times who was blessed by the Thunderbird itself to save the peoples of the Farplains from a great horde who had stormed into the plains from the Bloodlaw. Though they aren't as strong, or clever, or fast as some of the peoples of the other tribes, they are hardy and loyal and honoured members of the Confederacy.

RELATIONS WITH THE IMPERIUM

Relations with the Imperium remain relatively peaceful, though the Dwarven sense of superiority can make dealing with them very difficult for some of the tribes of the Confederacy so they prefer to deal with humans whenever possible. Of the two Imperium cities that border the Farplains, they much prefer to trade with the comparatively free and Republican city of Aleria over the military dictatorship of Lacini
