Knights of Summer

The Knights of Summer walk the lands of the Seventh Kingdom. Gleaming, they light upon the corrupted like forest fire, igniting justice in the hearts of common folk.

Founding

Founded by the Summer Lady, the Knights of Summer freely patrol Regnum Regnorum, save for the capital. They are known for keeping back the monsters that pour from the King's Forest; creatures creeping into the homes of farmers like winter frost, silent and deadly. They dispense justice among the common folks when it suits them; though, more often then not, they leave this to the King's Law.

Reputation

Is there any force on Regnum Regnorum more respected than the Kings of Summer? Perhaps, in some dark way, the people respect the Queen's Guard, which slips into the homes of dissenters and slits throats in the dead of night. Maybe the King's Guard, the only Knightly Order endorsed explicitly by the ruler of the Seventh. Then there are the true masters, the citizens of Avalon -- but these as gravity, to be abided as a given.

Appearance

Catch a Summer Knight by his gleaming mail. See how his sword sets the sun ablaze; or is it the other way around? Truly, these dispensers of law and order belong to a noble sort of blood. But you could tell a Knight from a noble at a glance. One sweats; the other demands sweat. One labours; the other affects labour. One cuts with sword and bright enchantment; one battles with wealth and subtle inheritance.

Organization

The Knights wander the whole Kingdom, meeting mostly by chance. To become a Knight is join an organization with many branches and one root, a root which leads to the Summer Lady, may she live forever and ever. Goodness does not falter; it does not bend before the edges of sky and sea; it spreads like the light of day, touching here and there and everywhere. So to do the Summer Knights wander the realm of monsters, humanity, and the edge of Avalon.

Culture

Summer Knights cultivate goodness and justice among their ranks. They teach compassion and intolerance in equal measure, the latter reserved for that which destroys the potential for goodness to flourish. They will occassionally turn a blind eye to injustice if it is for the greater good, but this is a truth not told in the common tongue, for it would plant in the peasant a seed of doubt for Winter to tend.

Public Agenda

To cleanse evil of all sort. Nothing less will do. Many members feel an obligation to repay the Summer Lady for some great favor, typically the saving of a life.
