Hemocleave
Hemocleave is a drug that cleaves A and B sugars off red blood cells, resulting in effectively becoming type O. It is not a gene therapy; it comes in the form of a pill. Hemocleave does not work continuously -- it is given to people one week before they intend to donate blood, and the dose is tapered off over the course of one week after the blood donation. Although it shows great promise, it is rather expensive to manufacture.
It has largely been replaced by CASandra.
