Acolytes

The acolytes are an informal collective of supporters of Saoirse "Zero" D'arcy. Unlike most RAIs/Zeds, who tend to respect Zero due to her Alpha-specific pheromones and her hard work in building up the community, the acolytes are obsessive supporters. Separating the clandestine organization of the same name from those who simply have the obsession is not really necessary as people who fall into the obsession tend to get connected to the group quickly. Some aspects of this group take on a religious fervor, with acolytes literally worshiping Zero as a prophet, while others take a less spiritual approach. Religious and non-religious acolytes get along just fine due to Zero's beliefs about freedom of religion.   Following Zero's Xenomorph incident, the acolytes pushed back against public sentiment. This lead to some of them being targeted leading to them going into hiding.

Structure

In a sense, the leader is Zero as they will do whatever Zero asks of them. Among themselves there is no formal hierarchy, although those who have personally worked with and know Zero tend to be more respected.

History

It is unknown when the first acolytes came to be or how it happened, although Zero notes she first met people who "seem kind of obsessed" with her all the way back in San Francisco.

Demography and Population

Essentially all members are part of Licentia, although a few have left or were kicked out for stalking Zero.

Divine Origins

As stated above, not all acolytes honor Zero as a religious figure. But enough do that it is worth mention.   The religious side of the acolytes have pretty much always been a thing ever since Zero's religious views became public knowledge. Zero sees herself as having been given gifts by God to help guide mankind into a better and kinder society. The acolytes see this and raise her multiple assertions that she is, at a minimum, a prophet on par with Isaiah. Zero vehemently opposes people acting as if she is a goddess, as she sees it as idol worship which her religion forbids -- that is the only reason why they do not deify her.
