Wordadun (Wohrd-ay-DUHN)

Wordadun was the small moon that orbited the the planet of Lexicon. The moon's name was derived from the Lehkcia adjective, "Wordadun", meaning "spotted, spotty", as a reference to the moon's many and dominant circular depressions on the surface, caused by material from gi'Waad Ycano , asteroids, and comets bombarding its surface forming impact craters and basins, which look like spots or dots when veiwed.

Description

A barren place, Lexicon's moon was a lifeless, pockmarked and airless rock that had many craters formed by the rock from the planetery ring system bombarding it, as well as asteroids and comets, and had no atmosphere. It was nestled and located around the outer edge of the second ring, thus making it a shepherd moon. A shepherd moon - also herder moon or watcher moon - is a small natural satellite that clears a gap in planetary-ring material or keeps particles within a ring contained. Due to the gravitational effect they have, shephard moons often pick up particles and deflect them from their original orbits, which creates gaps in a planetary ring system.   Wordadun's diameter is about 3,500 km. The whole surface area is about 38 million square kilometers. It's mass is 1/81 of Lexicon's, has a surface gravity of 0.1654 g and an escape velocity of 2.38 km/s.

History

Wordadun is actually a captured planetoid that will disingrate in around 50 million years and most likely be a part of the ring system. It didn't form like gi'Waad Ycano did, which was from leftover material from Lexicon's formation. Rather it was captured most likely by Lexicon's gravity, and Wordadun was also at the right speed and the right trajectory for it to be captured.
