Lewekh (Leh-WEHKʰ)

Lewekh was the ancient, yet bustling capitol city of the planet Lexicon. A massive domed and technologically advanced city, Lewekh was a cultural, political, commercial, academic, artistic, financial and economic hub, and the most important and prominent city on Lexicon due to it being the location of Losenxagabe, the ruling government, which made it the seat of power of Lexicon.   As the political and legal hub of the planet, it was home to important governmental buildings and was was the headquarters of Lekcaekon Saka'dkwoco, the planet-wide police force. It was also a major financial, banking, economic and commericial center with many big galactic and planet-wide buisnesses, banks, and corporations having a presence there, as the planet's second largest stock exchange was located there along with one of Lexicon's largest banks, which also made it a major convention center.   Lewekh was a major educational hub and university town, home to many highly respected and prestigous universities, colleges, and schools, the crown jewel being the University of Lexicon, which was one of the most highly respected and of higher learning in the galaxy, all of which attracted students, scientists, professors, and others from all over the galaxy. Complementing that, Lewekh was also a major research, technology, innovation, scientificial and development center, having a high amount of cutting-edge and highly-regarded fundamental and applied research facilities, organizations, institutions, centers and labs, within its dome.   Additionally, it was one of the main cultural centers of Lexicon, with the city possessing an thriving arts and club scenes, gourmet restaurants and more. The city is well known for its festivals, nightlife, contemporary arts, and high quality of life. It had numerous museums, galleries, libraries, orchestras, and sporting events within it.

Demographics

Due to its position, Lewekh was one of the most multicultural cities on Lexicon, with many species such as human, residing within its dome.   People from Lewekh are thought to be more highly-cultured and snooty, yet more paranoid.

Industry & Trade

Lewekh was the one of the major spaceports of Lexicon, its three individual spaceports and shipping docks all located on its outer face, handling trillions of trade.

Infrastructure

People moved from one area from another through skylanes full of public and private airspeeders, or from the vast array of pedestrian bridges, walkways, and elevators that connected the many different levels of the city, as well as mass transit such as the hovering maglev train network that wove around the towers of the city and shared the skylanes with others.   The domed cities were more hospitable to outsiders than the frigid and harsh tundras outside that the Lexiconians called home and often ventured to, and the fact within the dome, the high gravity of the planet - 1.8 g - could be offset and mitigated, as they couldn't handle the high gravity that Lexiconians easily could. As a result, the city had artificial gravity generators located within almost all buildings that could be turned on and off depending on a person's comfort and preferance.

Districts

Lewekh was divided into 13 districts, called, which were then subdivided into mini-districts.

History

All of Lexicon's settlements and domed cities are considerd old and ancient by galactic standards, but Lewekh was the most ancient of them all.   The area surrounding Lewekh has traditionally been the stronghold and area of influence of the Van Vhara, however, the area is highly - and always - contested by virtually all of the Vharaco, which is not surprising.

Architecture

Inside Lewekh's protective dome, the densely populated city was multi-storied, as a complex series of tall and closely-quartered, yet individual, skyscrapers constructed out of concrete, Lexiconian Steel with sheets and panels of resiliant and transparent metal, called in lapiseltkatkuxuyni bidyutnarsil in Lehkcia or scientifically aluminium oxynitride/transparent alumnium, as well as reinforced, tempered, toughened and laminated glass that ranged from translucent to transparent which were often arranged in geometrical patterns, rose up from the ground.

Geography

Lewekh was located on the southern area of the planet, and was nearby the mountains. Like all of Lexiconian cities, it was nestled within a massive dome to protect against the harsh and frigid tundra that they called home. The city also enclosed one of Lexicon's largest active mines of Lexiconian steel, providing it with valuable resources and a major strategic asset.   The city's name, which is Lewekh, means 'narrow' in Lehkcia, and was named after the two narrow mountain passes that the nearby mountain range possessed.

Natural Resources

One of Lexicon's most largest active mines of narsil, or Lexiconian steel, was enclosed within the city, and was located on the lowest level of the city, where the skyscrapers rose from and met the ground and the mine shafts went deep within the bowels of Lexicon.
