Carmen was born in Jamaica. After her biological father died she moved to (name of city outside The Metropolis) along with her sister, Angela, as their mother remarried. Stepfather was abusive and used religion as an excuse to keep things in order. When Angela turned 18, she took custody of a teenage Carmen.
At some point years before the events in Let's Go for a Pint, Carmen had a boyfriend who was abusive towards her. She eventually left him with help from Angela.
