Agathi's Hope

Agathi's Hope is a refined liquor created by distilling sap of the Shrango Reed. After being processed and distilled, the liquor can be used as a cure for The Longing.

Utility

Agathi's hope is used primarily as a cure for the longing, but it can aid in the treatment of other forms of paralysis as well. It does not always restore complete nerve function, but it can bring some feeling back for those who have lost it.

Access & Availability

For many years, Agathi kept his secrets to himself about how he distilled the oil from the sap. Because of this the cure was both inaccessible to those who were far away from the large city in which he resides, as well as expensive, as the man himself demanded increasingly unreasonable prices for his "miracle cure".
In the years following its discovery, a young woman named Cristel managed to become close to Agathi as his assistant. At first he was hesitant to share his methods, but once she had gained his trust she was able to secretly steal his research notes and distribute them to the Academia Ezhuchim, where the cure was rapidly distributed throughout the land.

Discovery

Agathi's Hope was only recently discovered, though the plant from which it is obtained had been written about in botanical journals prior, it was not until Agathi, a scientist who experimented with plant oils as use as medicine, had distilled an oil from the sap that its use as an anti-paralytic was found. Although Agathi is famous for his many remedies, most are thought of as no more than snake oil by the greater scientific community. Agathi's Hope, however, while not always 100% effective in all subjects, is accepted as a scientific breakthrough.
