The Serpent's Final Stare

The earth rumbled beneath my feet. With little thought I drew my theorium blade, ready for battle. Its glow lit the night, and I was able to see my surroundings. The ground swelled, and sank around me. Behind me, off in the distance I heard the groun errupt, and stones larger than dwarves flew into the sky. My wings carried me away from the points of impact. The massive form which now desired to have me as its first prey. This thing had been asleep since before the first age, and now, it raoms, and something tells me it's hungry. It reared its massive head, and revealed its serpentine features. Its long, thin form stretched out into the night. I could only assume that most of it was still submerged under the hill which silhouetted itself against my light behind the serpent. Once I was certain there was no more debris falling from when the serpent first emerged, I myself took to flight. That was foolish. The serpent lept into the air in pursuit. I used some of the magic within my reservoir to make a blast of fire that seemed to repel the beast.   It fell to the ground with a collosal thump! Still, the beast was not done. As I descended to get a view of the serpent, there was a massive hole where it would have landed. As I got closer, I saw the hole was the opening to a tunnel. This tunnel seemed to be going in the direction of Akkara. If that serpent made it to Akkara, thousands would perish. I flew through the tunnel at speeds I had only gone once before, but that's a story for another time. The tunnel ended just outside the city. I saw the tail end of the massive serpent quickly slithering towards Akkara. I spent a little more of my reservoir to cast another spell. The serpent stopped, and quickly turned to face me. Once again, it reared, ready to strike. This time, so was I.
