The Cymric

A people tried, yet unbowed

Ages ago, after the fall of Troy, the son of Aeneas journeyed far beyond the known world and destiny brought him to the fair isle that his people dwell on today.

“Brutus! there lies beyond the Gallic bounds
An island which the western sea surrounds,
By giants once possessed, now few remain
To bar thy entrance, or obstruct thy reign.
To reach that happy shore thy sails employ
There fate decrees to raise a second Troy
And found an empire in thy royal line,
Which time shall ne’er destroy, nor bounds confine"

In those days, it was a land of giants, and the Trojan refugees had to fight in order to carve out a place for themselves here. In time, it became their land, and after Brutus, his land was named Britain. His people thrived and forged pacts with both faerie and the gods of the land, settling far and wide across the isle, naming every place therein and establishing their land here.
The Cymri are not a people of conquest, but a people of principles. "Humility, Honor and Unity" are some of their core values, and the Romans who later conquered Britain found it's people ill-suited for their ways of conquest. And while the Romans might have conquered the Cymri, the Cymri never forgot their roots. In fact, it was a Briton, Constantine the Great, who reunified the Empire when it falted, with British soldiers as his army. When Armorica was abandoned due to devestation and disease, it was the Cymri who resettled it. The Romans might have ruled, but the Cymri prevailed.
