Personal history

His mother was Modrun, the daughter of Vortimer, who wed Ynys of Gwent. He never speaks of his great-grandfather, Vortigern the Traitor, but it is known that he was knighted in the days before the March of Aurelius. As his father as well as his grandfather had died in the battles against Vortigern, it fell to the young Nanteleod to bear the crown of Escavalon at the age of 19.
Yet, the Kingdom of the Silures soon felt the yoke of foreign rules, as their own foes, the Irish of Estregales lead by King Canan, took the opportunity to subdue the wealthy kingdom of Escavalon, forcing it to become a tributary. Nanteleod bristled under the yoke at first, but he soon found common ground with King Canan, in spite of personal grudges. Nanteleod was a wise king, and a fierce protector of Carlion and the rest of Escavalon.   After the fall of his liege lord King Canan of Estregales, Nanteleod was one of the few remaining strong kings of Cambria, and have now proven himself as the sovereign of southern Cambria, as opposed to the unexperienced son of Canan, Dirac. Having subdued the hill-tribes of Byrcheiniog, he turned his new army of hillfolk and knights to Estregales and subdued the unprepared King Dirac
However, his plans of uniting Cambria is now faced with the opposition of his distant cousin, Cadlew ap Cadell, the King of Powys, as King Cadlew the Tall of Norgales and King Cadlew Greencloak of Bulith, all decendants of the Ordovices Tribe.
He was wed when he took the throne, but his Queen died due to illness just a few years into their marriage, and he never remarried. He does have several bastard children with different women, primary among those is Alain de Carlion - his oldest child.
