Shifter
Shifter is short for 'shape-shifter'. They are humans who are able to transform into a specific animal. The human form appears normal, but shifters tend to be strong, agile, and have high stamina. They enjoy physical activities and games.
A wolf shifter or a werewolf
Shifters include werewolves, were-tigers, Nagas, mermaids, etc. They also include creatures specific to certain mythologies/folklores, such as aswangs, selkies, and the lamia.
Shifters are born as humans and have the capability to phase into their shifter or animal form from birth. The transformation is shown to be quick and each person can shapeshift into only one type of creature, as the ability is passed down through the family line.
Most shifters usually have at least two forms: a human form and a full 'animal' form. Some shifters have the ability to partially shift parts of their bodies or to inhabit a third full form between beast and human, such as Nagas, who can transform into a snake from the waist down.
