Session 14 - 15: Felling the Night Prowler

Previous Report : Session 13: Preparing for Breena

Giants Tread Here

• The Party make good time in their travel towards Epo, making the journey in just over four days.
• Once they reach their destination, the remote mountainside of Eastern Epo, they begin their preparations.

• Talon, Kit, and the Green Raven cohort immediately began searching for a viable area to lay their trap for Breena.
• They soon found a cave, large enough to be perceived as a Giant's den.

• Meanwhile, Jackie, Dia, and Ashe began creating fake tracks and signs of a Giant's presence.
• Jackie used her woodworking craft to create Giant's defences, fortifications, and spikes within the ground.

Executing the Trap

• The Party then set about deciding on their next steps.
  • They would first make it appear as if a Giant had attacked Arkzer, who would then journey to the nearest town, Epolina.
  • Once there, word would spread of a Giant attack, and that the Giant had been in hiding in the remote mountains of Eastern Epo.
  • Breena would catch wind of these reports, and hopefully her hatred towards Giant's would lead her into the Party's trap.

• It would take time for Arkzer to travel whilst on death's door, and so over the coming days, Dia kept communication with him to gauge his progress.
  • After two days, Arkzer reached Epolina, and reported back that he was being tended to, and that a word was sent to Epolania Fortress.
  • After four days, Arkzer reported that he was unable to leave due to the soldier's wariness of his story.
  • On the fifth day, Dia sensed that Arkzer was no longer conscious and unable to respond to his communications.
• Knowing that word had been sent to Breena, the party waited in the dark cave, planning to check in and rescue Arkzer once the mission to capture Breena was complete.

• Two days passed and the Party began to wonder if Breena had taken the bait or not, until, close to nightfall, the first signs of life were spotted, a Hawk.
  • The Hawk had suspiciously come to investigate the area, and after catching sight of one of the party members, began to fly away. It would have made its way back to Breena, had Talon not sent two arrows to pierce its breast.

The Prey Arrives

• Failing to hear back from the Hawk sent to survey the area, Breena decided to move in under the cover of night.
• Upon slinking stealthily past half of the Party, hidden under an illusion spell near the entrance, Breena soon found herself in the jaws of a trap.

• Springing to action all at once, the Party quickly ensured Breena would be unable to exit without risking her life.
  • With her exit covered, you all began your barrage of attacks.
  • Breena and Nina defended well, and through their command of the Essence of Loyalty, began converting your Green Raven allies, hindering your numbers advantage.
  • With some near-death experiences for Jackie, Kit, and Dia, Nina was eventually slain, and Breena herself was subdued.
  • Stretching out the Golden Chalice, the golden aura rose Breena into the air, slowly and painfully removing the Essence of Loyalty from her.
  • As Breena fell to the ground, freshly converted, a necrotic black smoke hung in the air around her before it formed a pillar and left the cave as if it were sucked out.
