Dimitris Haldoun

Physical Description

Body Features

Lanky, with tan skin and a bright, charming smile that seemed to accentuate his roguishness. His larger-than-life personality often meant that he seemed to fill whatever room he was in, and most would claim him to be much taller than he actually was. He often walked with a slight limp in his right leg, though again, his aura seemed to make this easy to miss; otherwise he stood tall and proud, with easy strides and an almost lackadaisical manner that never betrayed his keen and quick mind.

Physical quirks

It was not uncommon to see Dimitris occupying himself with a cigarette or something similar. In times of true hardship, he would settle for pens, pencils, or chewing gum. It was well-known that if one were to see Dimitris take his particular fixation out and set it down, things were getting very, very serious.

Apparel & Accessories

A lover of luxury, Dimitris tended to wear only the very best of what was available to him. He was self-admittedly a lover of fine dressings, and very easily swayed to somebody's cause with such things as gifts. His one break from this trend was his cap, the one possession he was able to retrieve from his ship before the smoke overwhelmed him. In his later days, it was used to hide his balding, but it made him no less fond of it.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Nobody is quite sure what Dimitris' life in his home 'verse was actually like; the man had a penchant for spinning stories, and the details changed so frequently as to be nigh unrecognizable from one telling to the next. What is known is that he found his way to Las Calabazas completely by accident, coming from a world that had little to no concept of the Multiverse beyond its boundaries. His air ship crashed spectacularly an hour or so outside the city walls- going down in a burning ball of wreckage from which certainly nobody should have been able to escape.   Though he awoke from his recovery to find himself the lone survivor, it certainly didn't seem to dampen his spirits. He took to his new life with an adventurer's spirit, though most would soon come to find it was a con man's keen eye for opportunity. After all, not everybody here was so inured to his schemes yet, and he planned to take as much advantage of that as possible. He quickly sparked an arms race against the City Council to see if he could out-scam the residents of Las Calabazas faster than they could outlaw them, eventually culminating in his permanent expulsion from the city proper.   However, they'd certainly said nothing about living under it.   Dimitris took to the sewers, as tenacious as ever, and soon gathered a following of like-minded individuals: criminals, scoundrels, outcasts and rejects who couldn't (or wouldn't) handle living in the upper city. He led them with a well-practiced hand, giving them all a home they would never have found otherwise, and soon his community became a city in its own right. The City Council made numerous attempts to clear them all out, only to be thwarted by poor luck at every turn. Although most said it was simply well-played tricks, some mused that The Skeleton Prince , Haldoun's simultaneous nemesis and friend, saw exactly how much good a place like the Unseen City could do.   And good it did (in a way). Dimitris never stopped his infamous ways, even into his old age, and many of the residents who lived under his rule saw him as a hero. He married numerous times, none of which ever lasted for more than a month, and made his mark (or perhaps more accurately made a mark) of everybody he came across. When he finally died, the Unseen City ceased all operations for seven days in order to properly mourn. Some say the Skeleton Prince himself attended the funeral in disguise.   Though many of Las Calabazas talk ill of him in the modern day, most would also agree that were he around to hear it, Dimitris would cheerfully retort 'But you're still talking about me!'.

Gender Identity

Identified as a cisgender man, and used he/him pronouns.

Sexuality

Very undiscerning- likely pansexual, though he never openly identified as such during his lifetime.

Accomplishments & Achievements

Although he was most well known for 'founding' the Unseen City, Dimitris often bragged of numerous grand adventures and stunning escapades that took place long before he even arrived in Las Calabazas. Unfortunately, due to none of his crew surviving the trip to the city, there was no way to verify said tales. It didn't help that Dimitris' innate nature made his accounts wildly unreliable straight out of the gate.   During his time within the walls, however, Dimitris made a home for those who found themselves outcasts among outcasts; those who stubbornly refused to bend to society's whims or found the city's way of life distasteful. He was responsible for the formation of hundreds of rules, and rules within those rules to clean up the loopholes he inevitably found. He served as an inspiration and a warning in equal measure; the Skeleton Prince was known to call him both his greatest friend and his greatest nuisance. He also came up with many influential scams, some of which still manage to be practiced to this day despite their blatant illegality.   His influence on the Unseen City was so great that in the wake of his death, The Seven Lords formed in order to continue his legacy of 'rule' and keep the City from falling apart at the seams.   Overall, Dimitris left a powerful mark on Las Calabazas in a way that many of its longer lived residents certainly will not forget.
