History

Township began in 807 under rule of King Charles Valdois II, the grandfather of the current King of Larissia, King Edgar Valdois. The Bramble Berry Inn was constructed the same year. Purn Dimchill and his family (most notably his son Ril Dimchill) were the first to establish their farm in the area, and the community promptly followed suit, transforming the lush and fertile forest into farms harvesting the blueberries and blackberries that were already present in the area. Ender Terthis and his wife Alicia Terthis opened up The Terthis Brewery in 807, and quickly became Dimchill's second most profitable exporter. In 810 a church of Lykos was completed just down the road from the inn.
In 817, the Dimchill Town Council made a decision to stop the production of blackberries, due to reports from farmers of mysteriously losing blackberry crops in the years before (The Terthis family was allowed to construct a secure greenhouse in order to grow a small crop of blackberries since their signature brew and export Terthis Wine requires both types of berries). The growing season went on without any problems until just before harvest season. The blueberry crops began withering and dying of an unknown cause, and the native Dimchill inhabitants were quick to point shameful fingers at their own neighbors. The captain of the watch, Roebran Dammermane did his best to keep the peace between the people, but nevertheless it drew the attention of Woodhaven's royalty. Prince Rondo Valdois was sent with a royal bodyguard to check on the situation in Dimchill. When he arrived, the townsfolk were at each-other's throats, and Captain Dammermane had done what he could to prevent violence. The Prince's royal status assisted in keeping the people in line, and along with the Captain they were able to investigate the blight further. The two valiant fighters discovered and defeated a monstrous creature of dead plant matter, which seemingly was the source of the blight upon the blueberry crops. Upon inspection of the dead monstrosity, they discovered it to actually be a beautiful Dryad. With the help of Thorp, the Priest of Lykos, they learned that the Dryad had been the cause of the missing blackberries (they were her favorite food), and that when Dimchill stopped growing blackberries, her overwhelming sadness had grown to anger and disfigured her into the hideous mound of blighted brambles. An immediate council meeting was called, and it was agreed upon that the farmers of Dimchill would only grow blackberries, and make an offering every year to the Blackberry Dryad. Similarly to the first ruling at the begging of the growing season, the Terthis family was allowed to grow a small blueberry crop in their secured greenhouse.
