Spontaneous Immolation Disease

In the Wexdios Galaxy, there are many ailments and conditions that are saddled with its residents of many species and walks of life. Missing body parts, a persistent cough, oozing something from the orfices, or even just the plethora of allergies.

But if Ezra had to guess which condition he fears the most, it’s the spontaneous immolation disease of the Runomin people. It took having influenze to another level that most humans would also have nightmares of.

It happens very fast with very little contact traceability. As far as Ezra knew, there was no cure or treatment to prevent it. The Runomin inflicted with this condition would start out with nothing more than slight discomfort in their limbs. As beings of mostly gas with some organics thrown in, it would be the first thing to signal something is horribly, horribly wrong.

Then their internal temperature fluctuates between extreme heat to extreme cold. Depending on a severe or mild case, the fluctuations are very short or very long. But in the end, the poor Runomin is quarantined and left to slowly immolate from the inside out.

Yet, for having such a horrific condition, it was relatively rare for it to happen. One of Ezra’s rabbit holes into understanding their new worlds found that only 0.01% of the Runomins actually spontaneously immolate. It was speculated that the origins of the condition had to do with an imbalance in the physiological centers of the Runomins, insufficient gas flow throughout their “body” systems, or just that the Runomins that immolate were too sad.

Ezra supposes that having to exist as essentially a contained supernova in the organic prison of seemingly a earth-like redwood tree would have that consequence.

As to why Ezra would fear a condition that really has nothing to do with them and the likelihood of themselves spontanously immolating is embarrassingly low?

Fire tends to be very painful and after Earth split itself in two, recovering from all the burns took centuries of extensive reknitting and pain.
