A Breakthrough in the Treatment of Galactical Acne

There are many ailments that plague the Wexmadios Galaxy. Lost limbs, double-brains, explosive syndrome, spontaneous immolation, and rhinititis. However, there is one so malicious, so foul, so insidious that once galaxy denizens are found to have it, it leads to dread and agony to all those involved.

Acne.

]In the now extinct humans of Earth, it is the least harmful condition that could have and usually limited to their adolescence as their weird hormones fluctuate.

Acne in Wexmadios Galaxy, especially in Talconos, it can be a death sentence. Sure, it presents similarly on the denizens as it does humans. Irritated pimples and blackheads forming on the face and neck that cause mild discomfort and embarrassment.

Wexmadios acne, Ezra finds, takes it to another level. Apparently there are specific bacteria that burrows into the skin of denizens that turns the otherwise seemingly harmless condition from earth into a serious malaffliction. If left untreated, sufferers gradually decline in their health as these pathogenic microbes burrow into their critical organs and even bones. Eventually the sufferer is left unrecognizable as nothing more than a walking mound of pimples and multipe organ failure. Most would take the sufferer out their misery but sometimes you find one dead in a gutter, succumbing to their ailment.

Conventional treatment methods include surgically opening the areas of infection to drain, creams that promise relief but only feed the bacteria, and decapitation.

With all this into account, it is no surprise that there was a parade planned and celebrations to be had when the Faultline Center for Regeneration cracked it. Cracked it, as in, they found an effective treatment for the ailment, if not the cure.

The skin-burrowing bacteria has photosensitive attributes, meaning that certain wavelengths of light can encourage or eradicate the bacteria on the skin. Exposure times are still being tested but many of the medical professionals at FCR are confident that this could be the solution that will replace decapitation.

Ezra never thought that something so mundane back home would be so helpful.
