Leadership

Leadership comes in two forms, either a wider plan created by the priests of the Harmonic Doctrine or by individual war chiefs, chosen by their peers for their experience. The priests have messengers mounted on genies to pass messages on.

Force

Southern Infantry

The southern forces me known for carrying huge slabs of rock as shields and fighting with short sharp knives as an opponent tries to move past a shield. The distraction of these stone shield walls gives the cavalry a chance to flank. The infanty is armored in leather

Northern Cavalry

The northern forces consist of a highly mobile force of cavalry. The main weapon of the cavalry is slings. A trick the Montihume cavalry has learnt is rotating in their saddle and hanging low enough to grab loose stone while riding. They prefer to use hit and run tactics and will avoid engagements until the southern forces arrive. They have very little armour, mainly leather or normal clothing.

Ceramic Knights

The Southern Monts get clay from The Gaping Mouth and Lost Sister then turn it into ceramic plates in large castle forges. It is weaker than metal armour but normally stronger than the hardened wood used by Renyan Unitary. The armour is usually used for the elite and has two main uses of this armour is for a heavy frontline force or large armoured mounted knights.

Strategy

Their equipment is designed more for intimidating the foe and harrassing them, rather than dealing death. The formidable stone shield walls and ceramic knight charges break the foe once morale is lowered by slings harassing them. The forces prefer to fight in the large plains, before and after Running Heart as the hills and rivers make the horses less mobile.
Honour is less a concern than fair treatment. Surrender will be honoured while betrayal is punished harshly. People are rarely sacrificed and the lives of the individual are valued.

Support

The northern forces are expected to move with everything they own, even in times of battle their herds will be close. Their gear is simple and easy to repair by each individual. The southern forces will bring wagons carrying extra gear with them and stone masons, as their shields and the ceramic tools are prone to breaking.

Skilled medical experts will travel from the Southern Keeps, but medical experts are more rare in the north so for serious injuries people are transported to the southern castles.

Societal Impact

While there isn't conscription, everyone knows they have a duty to protect the land and work with each other. This extends to being quick to punish those that work against the common good. The need for safety is a large one and military service is a common part of everyday life.
