Vithka Chollai

Alcoholic beverage brewed and enjoyed by the Vith'Kree of the Wasteland
A dead Ankheg is placed inside an earthenware vessel where it is left to macerate at room temperature - the insect infuses formic acid, produced by Ankhegs to defend themselves, to the soupy mash which generates acrid aromas and sharp flavors believed to enhance the taste of the drink. The Vith'Kree chew the pulp of freshly picked Cholla cacti and spit inside the vessel, the enzymes in their saliva begin transforming starches into sugars to kickstart the fermentation process. After aging, the beverage is filtered through porous Witchrock and commonly served warm alongside live larvae or grubs. Vithka Chollai is a potent intoxicant, though given its taste and brewing process is repugnant to other species.
