Yuross, Winged Sovereign

The Queen of Kings, the Spirit of the Law

"KING, EMPEROR, BEGGAR, BRAGGART. ALL MORTALS ARE EQUAL IN MY EYES. ALL MUST KNEEL."

Yuross, the Winged Sovereign, has many duties. She is the sovereign and severe patron of law, and her both her priests and paladins are sworn to uphold the law of the land wherever they are - provided they do not contradict the essential principles of fairness and equality. To be clear - a brutal and cruel law, applied equally to peasant and noble, is perfectly valid in the eyes of Yuross, if not all of her servants.

To Yuross, hierarchies are inherent and proper, and just as she is subservient to Yashullah and the August God , so too must each God and Mortal know their place. As such, she is revered by many with a military bearing, and her holy symbol is found in many a courthouse. An oath sworn before Yuross or one of her Witnesses is binding in the most absolute sense, and breaking one risks her wrath or the wrath of the Witness responsible for enforcing the oath.

When a mortal soul dies, they are brought before Yuross, and she decides whether they are to be taken to Ishnamr to be purified or Ushius for rest and revelry. In either case, the soul eventually returns to a neutral state and is returned to the August God.   Her holy symbol is that of a three-pointed crown encircled by manacles.

Deific Servants

Yuross has a number of Deific Servants, lower divine beings that aid her in governing parts of her divine portfolio. These gods may be worshipped alongside or instead of Yuross; those who choose to do so still receive her Boon (Burden of Authority).   The Witnesses of Yuross
The Witnesses of Yuross are her legion of angelic servants. They bear witness to oaths sworn in her name and may be called on by priests of Yuross to oversee and legitimize legal proceedings of high importance, like coronations. Lower-ranked witnesses may also officiate weddings for those blessed by their goddess.
Samiha, the Scalebearer
Samiha, the Scalebearer, is the Witness that has been charged with monitoring the balance of the world. Of all the Witnesses, Samiha is the most powerful and yet is devoted to pure neutrality - even between the forces of law and chaos, which is normally anathema to Yuross. She is the patron of the impartial observer, devoted wholly to finding out the truth and reporting the truth exactly as it lies, warts and all. There are times when those who serve the law must sublimate their hatred of evil and wade into chaos for the sake of justice - at these times, it is Samiha they call out to for strength. Her symbol is that of a pair of balanced scales with a heart on one side and a sword on the other.
Kalvasm, the High Bailiff
Kalvasm, the High Bailiff, is a Witness and the Bailiff of Yuross's Divine Court. Kalvasm pays close attention to the world of mortals and has license to roam it freely. As Bailiff, he specifically enlists mortals to safeguard the souls of the dead and eradicate the anathema that is Undeath. Under his watch, even the most evil and terrible people are allowed their gentle rest, and even the most righteous and high-handed are barred from resurrection. Kalvasm himself is indifferent to the crimes or triumphs of the souls in his charge or the specifics of the violation of the laws of death and judgment; in this way, he differs from some of the servants of Ushius, who may permit resurrection in times of great need. He is honored by gravekeepers, sextons, and many of those who have suffered at the hands of the undead. He has a particularly large number of followers in Minnerond, where the Dead Fields have expanded to encompass nearly half the region. His holy symbol is that of a skeletal hand with its index finger pointing skyward.
