Ushius, the Silent Solace

The Light of Hope, the Inscrutable Savior, the Succor of the Just

YOU HAVE LABORED LONG AND ENDURED MUCH. COME, NOW, AND REST.

The origins of Ushius are as yet unknown. The Silent Solace rarely speaks, preferring to come to its followers in dreams and visions. It is known that Ushius guides the souls of the good and the kind to a resting place of peace and pleasure, but it is not known how or why Ushius came into this role.   Ushius is, essentially, the patron of those who hold onto hope for a better world and the will to make that world manifest. Its favored seem to be orphans, social pariahs, lepers, abandoned elders, and the otherwise unjustly outcast. Ushius itself has a form that is unique and eerie, if not off-putting, and it seems to empathize with those who are similarly afflicted. It rewards those who endure and labor hard, who patiently chip away at the edifice of an unbearably cruel world.

Deific Servants

Ushius has a number of subordinate deities that borrow their power from it as they govern their own aspects of its portfolio. They can be worshipped in addition to or separately from Ushius. While worshipping one of these deities, you still gain the Triumph of the Pariah boon.   Sirkenzi, the Red Jester
Additional Domain: Trickery   Tranquility and quietude are well and good, thinks Sirkenzi and his followers, but what's a life (or afterlife!) without a bit of fun? Or a lot of fun? Yes, of course, peace is preferable to war, and hard work should be rewarded. But the matter of how is what Sirkenzi cares about. In keeping with the greater deity that he serves, Sirkenzi likes to party with outcasts, weirdos, freaks, and the generally misunderstood, but everyone is welcome at his tables and temples for some wholesome bacchanalia and practical joking. Though not widely worshipped and relatively recently deified by the greater deity he serves, Sirkenzi is revered by a variety of people the world over, especially those who identify with the dogma and message of his master but could do without the solemnity and quiet.   Sirkenzi, or a phantasm bearing his likeness, can be seen occasionally leaning against a corner in rowdy taverns or parties in dingy, dirty places. He takes the form of a lanky humanoid wearing a crimson outfit and a mirthful white mask with a painted-on smile. The crimson outfit is frequently that of a fool, or bears such motifs - a crimson tabard with a jester's hat insignia on it, for example. However, because his clerics, temple knights, and even paladins will wear such outfits, one cannot know for sure if they've just interacted with the god himself or merely one of his followers - and that's something Sirkenzi finds quite amusing.
Oph, the Living Message
Additional Domain: Peace   Oph, like Ushius, is a creature of terrifying beauty and unsettling form. Even as it admonishes those who see it to BE NOT AFRAID, it knows that is a tall order for the adorable mortals that it serves and is served by. When one prays to Ushius, Oph is the one most likely to respond directly with the whims and wills of its master. Though usually feared by the mortals it seeks to aid, Oph nonetheless carries the love and salvation of Ushius to those who have earned it. Oph looks with sympathy toward physicians, sovereigns, and simple couriers, as well as all others who are often hated for the messages they are forced to deliver, but who dutifully do what they can to bring closure and understanding to the world. These things, above all, are what Oph represents: the mutual understanding required for peace and growth between people and the pain and sacrifice one must endure to reach that understanding.
POV: You are a dead good person and Ushius is beckoning.

  Trivia
Churches of Ushius often work double- or triple-time as hostels, orphanages, and hospices. Its priests are expected to train in the mundane healing arts as well as the magical, and paladins of Ushius are well-known for their tendency to be tenacious, laconic, and unhesitating in their defense of the good.
