Tiefling of Kraynor WIP

A Tiefling is, generally, a human whose lineage contains some hellish influence. Not all humans born of such a lineage are tieflings, and the birth of one may come as a red-skinned, nubby-horned shock to parents expecting a relatively normal child. Indeed, a single night of devilish depravity can afflict a bloodline for generations, manifesting at seemingly arbitrary points decades or centuries down the line. A child born of two tieflings is likely to be born a tiefling as well, but there is always a chance that the child will be born an ordinary human.   On Kraynor, the overwhelming majority of tieflings trace their lineage back to the region of Bolok, and one particular city, its name forgotten or scrubbed from most historical texts, now referred to primarily as the Squandered City. In brief, a certain beggar made a pact with a devil to live like a king for a day. It did not take long for the mechanism of this pact to spread, and many of the people of this ancient city participated in one of these pacts to enlist the services of a demon of lust; those that didn't would almost inevitably become entangled with someone who had, and so the city and region became heavily populated with Tieflings, and their offspring now largely reside in Siltport, though vestiges of these fiend-touched bloodlines have traveled to all the corners of the planet.   As such, Tieflings on Kraynor are common enough that they do not bear the stigma they do on other worlds, although there is in many places a common belief that Tieflings are inherently and especially promiscuous. This belief likely stems from the origin of Tieflings on Kraynor and the fact that due to this origin, Tieflings tend to be fairly attractive in both physical and metaphysical ways.

Features

Ability Score Increase. Increase an ability score of your choice by 2 and your Charisma by 1, or increase your Charisma by 2 and an ability score of your choice by 1.   Speed. Your base walking speed is 30 feet.   Age. Tieflings age at the same rate as humans until their mid-20s, at which point they age roughly half as quickly as humans. However, their lifespan is otherwise identical to that of ordinary humans.   Alignment. Tiefling alignments vary as much as that of humans. However, Siltport can be a very chaotic place, and Tieflings from Siltport tend to have more of a wild streak.   Size. Your size is Medium, your height and weight about equal to that of a human plus the weight of your horns and other demonic features, which may be surprisingly heavy.   Veiled Heart. You have advantage on saving throws against being charmed.   Vestige of Dagram. When you make an ability check or saving throw that uses Charisma, before the roll is made, you can choose to add 4 to the roll. You can use this feature once and regain use of it after finishing a short or long rest.   Mire in Depravity. When you reach 3rd level, you can cast the entangle, arms of hadar, and ensnaring strike spells with this trait. Once you cast any of these spells with this trait, you can't cast that spell with it again until you finish a long rest. You can also cast these spells using any spell slots you have. Rather than their normal effects, these spell effects manifest as grasping ropes of black tar that erupt from the ground or the affected weapon.   Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma is your spellcasting ability for these spells (choose the ability when you choose this race).   Origin. Choose either Siltport Raised or Center of Attention.
  • Siltport Raised. Growing up in Siltport, you picked up a couple skills that helped you make your way. You have proficiency in two of the following skills: Deception, Sleight of Hand, Stealth, Intimidation. You also know the Infernal language.
  • Center of Attention. Used to willingly or unwillingly drawing and manipulating the attention of people around you, you have proficiency in two of the following skills: Performance, Insight, Perception, Persuasion. You also know a non-exotic language appropriate to your backstory.
Languages. You can speak and read common plus the language determined by your origin.   Names. Tiefling names are typically reflective of the human culture into which they are born, but as a superstition, tieflings may be given or take upon themselves a virtue name, reflecting an ideal, an affliction, or an aspect of the tiefling's personality. These take the form of names such as Bliss, Truth, Sorrow, Glory, or Lust.
