Andoletta

Andoletta is inspired by the Pathfinder Campaign Setting's empyreal lord Andoletta, but changed in identity and nature in the Korthos campaign setting. All credit to the original creators of the Pathfinder Campaign Setting and of Andoletta/Grandmother Crow.

Granmother Crow Andoletta

"You may find an old woman with a willow-carved walking stick at a crossroads, some day in your life. Her graying hair will be tucked back in a neat bun, and the crow on her shoulder with hold your gaze with as much intensity as the old woman will. With a glance from her emerald eyes, Grandmother Crow will know who you are, and she will sense the sins that weigh upon your soul. If she has revealed herself to you, you are lucky, for she will guide you to the light. If you aren't willing to go to the light, though, then fear Grandmother Crow, for her staff will strike down the wicked and unrepentant.

Divine Domains

Andoletta presides over the 13 Heavens in the celestial plane above Korthos. However, she delegates much of her duties to lesser Empyreals, spending much time walking the material plane and observing mortal behavior, trying to help the cause of good and order where she can. She is prayed to by those seeking redemption or protection in a familial sense- often the name of Grandmother Crow is invoked in prayer for the protection of loved ones. Andoletta has many aspects and facets- she often is called upon to preside over courthouses and criminal proceedings in the hopes that criminals will redeem from their crimes, for example, as well as to protect the weak and even send success and power in goodly proceedings.
Clerics and other divine spellcasters worshiping Andoletta may choose from the Animal, Community, Good, Law, or Protection Domains. They may also choose from the Feather, Family, Archon, Redemption, Purity, and Defense subdomains.

Holy Books & Codes

Grandmother Crow prefers to spread her gospel through oral history, telling stories with subversive morals to travelers and wayfarers in order to spread her wishes to the people of Korthos. In dire cases, she sends Archons to negotiate directly, communicating her intent with particular chosen. However, individual courthouses dedicated to her keep their communities laws transcribed and recorded as a sort of holy mission- often interspersed with stories and psalms of Andoletta. In addition, her clergy often takes works of philosophy in Andoletta's name to be divinely inspired.

Divine Symbols & Sigils

Andoletta is oft represented by the feather of a crow or by an image of a hand gripping a willow staff. Her favored weapon is the quarterstaff and her followers often wield quarterstaves carved from willow. Her followers also often represent her with sprigs of willow as well as crow feathers. Carvings of crows, feathers, or willow leaves are often associated with Andoletta, and her favored often keep crows as pets or companions. The faith of Grandmother Crow does, however, have a disdain for ravens, magpies, jays, and other corvids in many localities- viewing them as not sent by their goddess and occasionally even as bad omens.
Grandmother Crows favored servants are Corvinter Archons- celestials that appear as armored knights with crow-shaped helmets and long quarterstaves- and Preceptor Archons- psychically powerful archons with crows' heads and glowing eyes. Her causes are also often furthered by Spyglass Archons- ebon winged celestials that serve as scouts for the archon legions- and the occasionally lawfully bent Avoral Agathion, as well as good aligned non-celestials like Lammasu or particularly lawful Dryads.

Tenets of Faith

Andoletta is a paragon of law and justice to her worshipers- the church of Grandmother Crow, and the Archons themselves, though flexible in the worship of various aspects of her, operates under a very deontological perspective. As an ascended Archon, Andoletta urges that her faithful live as the Archons must- following imperative actions because they are categorically good, and defining goodness by an action's ability to be done by all mortal agents to accomplish goodness. It is a violation of what the Archons stand for to force a mortal to act in a certain way, so all good actions must be done of free will- hence why Andoletta leads to a path of redemption but will not redeem a mortal herself. Her clergy requires that any action taken be done under "good will" and "duty"- and that, in addition to universally applicable actions (in their minds) such as "do not kill the good", this also requires following of local law and subscribing to local community practices.

Divine Goals & Aspirations

Andoletta seeks to protect those who are good and lawful and punish the irredeemably wicked. Although a patron of all that is lawful and good, and a believer that goodness follows from order, she isn't so naive as to defend tyranny, and often uses her skills of persuasion to attempt to redeem those in a tyrannical situation in order to lead them to good. She respects the actions of rebellion and revolution even if she doesn't actively condone or incite them, preferring instead a gentle guiding hand to restore things to good and purity.

Physical Description

Special abilities

Andoletta is a powerful demigoddess- the most powerful of the Empyreal Lords and worshiped as a deity in her own right. She is equipped with powerful magic and combat prowess, as well as armies of celestials and redeemed waiting to serve her should she so need. However, she is generally unwilling to take direct action unless absolutely necessary- as an archon she believes truly that goodness comes from strict law, yes, but Andoletta is willing to provide a gentle guiding hand to those in need of redemption or order rather than a militant presence of domineering good. Because of this, she often is doubted by those archon lords under her, but her calm and gentle presence usually dispels these doubts before too long.

Social

Contacts & Relations

Andoletta presides in a deific role over her heavens, but many archons and archon empyreals serve her only indirectly- Grandmother Crow takes much more interest in mortal affairs then most of the demigods that she commands, and as such she is much more a truly deific figure than her allies. The legions of the Heavens are many, but some particularly well known archon lords- those with substantial mortal cults of their own, for example- include
