The Talam Wetlands
The Talam Wetlands cover the entire eastern area between the woods and the shore, making travel through it all but impossible. There are both swamps and marshes in the wetlands, and there is a huge variety of creatures and plants living there. For those wishing to go to the north, ship is the common way to travel.
Geography
The wetlands begin as a swamp, with trees standing in the water, obscuring sight. The ground is treacherous, and even drier areas are waterlogged and may give way. The water is supplied in part by the rivers from the Eastern Adhar, in part by rain, and towards the coast the water is brackish from the seawater intermingling with the freshwater.
Fauna & Flora
The western wetlands are mostly swamps, with trees and thick vegetation keeping it shaded and isolated. There is an incredible variety of species here, as wetlands have a very diverse eco system. The ground is fertile, and the birds are never quite. Almost. Not only the usual plants and animals live here, but the swamps are also home to a number of beasts and other dangerous creatures. Since barely anyone travels through, it's quite isolated, and many unsavory types may hide here. Futher east is mostly marshes, with as many birds but not as many large creatures. With no trees binding the earth though, travel is even more difficult. This area is mostly grasses and reeds.
