Mightfalls
Demographics
Mightfalls in the modern days is comprised with a majority of Humans, but other races such as dwarves and merfolk exist in the lower districts of the city. Long ago, most of Mightfalls was made up of elven folk of old, but in 200 PT, the humans of the upper north took the land and drove the elves south to the forgotten forest. The Elven people of this land, have long forgiven the Humans for driving them from the circle of life. They believe that the city has brought great prosperity to the lands of Kleallelas.
The upper portions of the city house much of the rich and powerful, including the king and his court, while the lower portions of the city house the less wealthy. There aren't slums in the city as much of it has been adapted with the sewer systems from the desert dwarves to the north east, however, there are portions of the cities that some would deem "less than safe"!
Government
Mightfalls is run under the watchful eye of their faithful leader, King Reinhold. However, Reinhold does not hold the only power in the region. His council of high magic users, known as the Brothers Bright, also hold a piece of the political power. Any large decisions in the kingdom that are made, are first put to the high court as a vote. Reinhold has full power to stop a bill from becoming law, however he can not single handedly turn a bill to law himself.
Taxes in the area while frequent, are fair and are used for the betterment of the city. In the 500 years that reinhold has been in rule, he has expanded roadways, opened schools, and created public forums for which people may express their concerns! Reinhold's main concern has always been his people, which is quite evident in the amount of loyalty his subjects seem to possess.
The Brothers bright are fairly behind the scenes, however, if they need to make themselves known they will.
Infrastructure
The entire city booms with merchant life. On almost any street you can find anything from weapons to furniture. If something can be made, rest assured someone in the city specializes in it. There are both local merchants and ones that come from far off lands. There is a large baking scene in Mightfalls, with several windmills and watermills that dot around the city. Grain is brought in from the fields from outside the city and turned into fresh bread and ale that the patrons of the city enjoy on the daily.
Sewer systems were installed with the help of the Dwarven clan leader Tekar Stonebeard. He invented the systems and Reinhold used a large part of the taxes in the city to pay him for the installation. No longer do the streets run with dirty disease filled water, and they have even implemented a "horse bucket" to avoid piles of manure. The city overall is clean as a result!
The only way into the city are two very large bridges to the far east and to the south. The circle of life creates a natural moat around the kingdom forming a water wall several miles wide. This allows ships to pass freely in and out of the circle to bring goods in and out of the city.
Districts
There are a few districts that make up Mightfalls. In the far upper part of the city you will find the temple of the Oracles of Trifall. The temple has been there for the entirety of the Post Titan era. Many believe that the temple was staging grounds for the fight against the Titans, lead by the might Oracles of Trifall. The temple today is maintained by the Brothers Bright, housing many of the members deep inside its walls. Many of the city folks will make their way to the temple to pray to the Oracles when times are tough. It is tradition to bring a gift for the gods when visiting the temple, gifts ranging from fruit to fine wines!
Below the temple lies the castle Lambridge and its walls. Inside castle Lambridge you may find King Reinhold, his Wife Queen Alesia, their four sons, Balion, Rychard, Gylaw, and Percheval, and their daughter, Thea! The king has been in power for 500 years despite appearing as human! Some say he is a God brought from a distant place, others say he made a deal with the death bringer to keep him alive forever. Whatever the cause of his apparent immortality, no one has ever questioned it. As a matter of fact it has been widely accepted in most of Kleallelas, only casting shadow from the wicked lands of the west. (See King Reinhold for more information)
Inside the walls of castle Lambridge, you will find most of the high ranking nobles, soldiers and a few wealthy merchants. Standing as a miniature city within the walls, most of the nobles stay within the walls, finding no real reason to leave. Soldiers are able to train in the archery fields to the far east while while farmers cultivate the fields next door for fine ales and breads! Just to the west you will find the marketplace, many of these businesses exist in the regular city as well, cloning a small portion to sell to the nobles. Across the cobblestone street is the Eternal Library boasting a collection of books from all across Kleallelas. Most of recorded history can be found in the library excluding only small pieces of local scripters. West of these lies the noble housing, a collection of beautiful houses and buildings designed to keep the nobles happy and engaged.
Directly south of the castle walls lies the public courtyard, a large beautiful area with a water fountain in the middle. On the outside of the courtyard lies many booths and tents with wares and goods for sale, and in the middle is a nice little seating area. To the east and west of the courtyard is housing for most of the citizens of Mightfalls stretching far to the city limits on the banks of the circle of life. To the southwest you will find more industrial areas, including the port, blacksmiths, and other factory type buildings. This is the area you will find shipbuilders, printing presses, bakeries and more. To the southeast is the cities main shopping district. In this area you will find book keepers, butchers, armor shops and all of your magic needs. While goods are sold all over the kingdom, excluding the castle, this is the place for the best stuff in town.
History
When the elves were in power, most of the city was just grassland, but the humans knew of the ancient power that lies beneath. In their research they had determined this to be the final resting place of the Oracles of Trifall, the ancient gods that helped bring forth the Post Titan era.
