Belly of the Beast

Once upon a time, there was a massiva dragon which wreaked havoc and terrorised the citizens of X. Eventually a brave party of adventurers came and slayed the ferocious beast. Once the creature was slain and the reward collected, the adventurers went on their merry way, leaving behind the slowly rotting carcass of the dragon, save for a few teeth and scales which could come in handy later in their travels. The citizens were unsure what they should do with what remained of that which has once been tyrannising them. Moving the corpse proved to be quite difficult. They found themselves wishing the heroic slaying had taken place a bit further from their town square. It was certainly of no help that the dragon's blood began leaking into their wells, ruining the water supply. Something had to be done. Thus stepped the young halfling woman Kella Barleyblossom forward. She taught herself magic which she used to, to many's surprise and dismay, speed up the rotting process. After only a few hours, the process which would have taken months longer was complete, and in the town square was left the clean and bleached skeleton of the dragon, in addition to a horrendous smell of rot which caused several neighbours to leave town. When those who left to save their health came back weeks later, they were met with the newly opened Belly of the Beast, a tavern constructed inside the massive dragon skull, owned and run by a cheerful Kella Barleyshine. Belly of the Beast is a hugely popular tourist attraction, and folk travel from far and wide to visit both for the incredible food and drink, and for the even more incredible story of the dragonslaying.   (Halflings use a family name until they find their own profession, after which they change it. They'll often keep a family prefix even after the name change. One day I'll write an article about halflings and their traditions)
