K'oa

The K'oa holds the title as leader of the Architects, and is appointed by the Architects Council itself. Their main duty is as the worldly decision maker for the council, taking care of everyday things while the council can focus on study. They can institute kingdom-wide laws, overrule any court judgements, appoint and remove governors of any province(though they usually allow provinces offworld to choose their own), and make official political dealings. 
The K'oa holds their position for 25 years or until they die. Theoretically, a K'oa can be removed from office if their decisions go against the council's will or creed, but this is exceedingly rare due to the selection process. While they are forced to either accept their position of leave the city forever, after their first term is up, they can choose not to be considered for any future terms. It is quite common for rulers to take advantage of this rule, because most choose to remain at the temple due to a devotion to wisdom, not power. However, some rulers develop a deep conviction for caring for their people, and remain in their position their entire lives. The longest-reigning K'oa is rumored to have held the position for nearly two hundred years, though the wildest estimates put that number at 500.

Qualifications

Typically, the K'oa is someone who has been raised in Yrun from a young age. Many children who show significant promise in character and intelligence are sent there to train, with the hope of joining the ranks of the Architects. Those who show potential above all others are given even more intensive training, and from these acolytes who have now spent their lives in the temple, the K'oa and council members are chosen.
