Circle of Civilized Lands

This lofty name is an old but stubbornly retained monicker for the cities, states and nations that encircle the Viridian Sea. While it may be haughty and overbearing, the truth is also contained within the comment: it is commonly agreed that further one gets from the coastal cities, the less educated and less refined the people become.
Trade is an exceptionally strong part of life around the circle. That economic interaction has its strongest basis in the capital of Tamiriya, the city of Axios. The Ageless City is at the circle's southwestern end and is considered the unofficial limit of the region.
Broadly speaking, the territory stretches nearly 500 miles north to south and a similar distance across. In the north, the Riven Isles are geographically inside the circle, but their pagan ways leave them on the outside culturally and geopolitically. Several lands are virtual unknown to those who are not neighbors, though their cities are commonly spoken of in other ports by those who travel for commerce.
