Ironwood Tree
Only grown in the warm Islands of the Alago, Ironwood Trees grow semi-symbiotically with a vine clustered around their roots. If carved into an appropriate shape, soaked in the sap of that particular vine and then lit on fire, the wood hardens rapidly into a strange state where it no longer burns unless broke and the interior exposed. Additionally and more famously, the material becomes as strong as many metals, despite retaining is buoyancy.

Ecology and Habitats
This plant is only found in the southernmost, warmest climates of the world. Attempts to recreate it on the mainland have been completely unsuccessful, though the Alago people have taken to farming it extensively where possible.
