Gnome-al

Gnome-al, the capital town of the dutchy of Aska, rich in Mythril and Ma-cite is largely uninhabitable by all but the most creative, and ingenous of the races, Menokay, or as they are more commonly called, Rock Gnomes and rough neighbors that mine the veins of mythril Ingotrolus, commonly called Dwarves. Located in the southern marches of the Tristan mountain range the dutchy is a virtually unapproachable from the north west and east has a natural connections to Holdheimia.   During the times of the Enyiserine Empire, an unothordox elf of the imperial class was granted the land in fief that was to become Holdheimia. Edik Heimia made his capitol in the area that would become Wealdport, in his dying days proved to the be savior of Menokay, when the Great Purge happened.   Four thousand years before the fall of the Empire, in a region known as Gandolis today is a place the Menokay call the Cauldron of Tears, in the village where the cauldron is now, Gnomish artificers began experimenting with ma-cite creating Him, a primitive version of the Warforged. Its rumored that even during the Purge this creation escaped and is still wandering the wilderness to. Like all political events though there are survivors, these ragged bands were hounded and shunned for hundrends of years before a clever tinker gnome named Kepi Kopandoginal befriended Edik by creating Kepi's Impressive Rambler, an enchanted chair that saved the proud Heimia from needing to be carried to his rooms. As an Arch Duke Edik created a small duchy consisting of two counties, Tristan Marches, Kepome, calling the duchy Aska after the rumored name of the Gnome (or dwarf if they tell the story) who discovered ma-cite.   Over the next millenia Gnome-al aided Holdheimia to become even greater through the valuable trade and vitural monopoly of ma-cite in particular and mythril in general. For this aid, the lords and ladies of Wealdport granted more and more local autonomy to the Menokay and Ingotrolus in the region, so the boot of the empire wasn't harshly felt there. During the most recent wars as the empire receded and broke up because of its hard to get to local, and harsh environs Gnome-al was largely spared the flames of war. In this, the folk of the region look upon High Elves with trust, and honor with just a pinch of suspicion for the Cauldron of Tears. They fiercely compete with the dwarven clans in matters of trade and sometimes territory but this rarely errupts into blood shed for both sides owe much to the Elves of the Empire.
