Magic system because yea

Mana

  Each person has a good amount of mana that flows in their bloodstream. This mana is used when casting spells, and regenerates over time. One can grow their amount of mana through practice or medication, though medication is usually reserved for those who need it. If someone exhausts all of their mana, they are at risk of losing consciousness until the mana regenerates.
On the other end of the spectrum, if someone is exposed to too much mana, it will push their mana past their limit and lock them in an "Overloaded" state. (Mana overexposure is explained more here: https://www.worldanvil.com/w/kathrir-autumnkitsune/a/mana-overexposure-condition) This can be very dangerous for the individual.
 

Core VS Learned magics

Core magics are a type of magic people are born with. What type of magic is partially determined by genetics and species. For example, it's more common for a human to be born with some form of elemental magic then say, a fae. Being born with a sub-magic such as lightning magic (Lightning magic is Sub-Elemental magic) isn't as common, though not unheard of. Being born with a core magic of another species is very rare. Some aren't born with a core magic, and that's where they turn to learned magics.

Learned magics are, well, learned. They are usually a little less powerful than core magic, but can be more versatile due to being able to pick which spells you would like to specialize in. Those with core magic can also use learned magic, but their core magic will almost always be stronger. They can be learned from pretty much anything. A teacher, book, or self-teaching will do just fine, and after around a week most people can handle the basics of their new powers.    

Grounding Points

Grounding points are the places where most mana goes when casting a spell. Sometimes, these grounding points require certain techniques to be used for the magic to work. As an example, some magic (Such as lightning, wind, and fire) require the caster to manipulate their breathing patters for different spells to keep mana under control, making the lungs the grounding point.    

Circles and Runestones

Spells can be cast through magical circles (like summoning circles) and also can have their sigils carved into runestones. (Runestones are explained more in this article: https://www.worldanvil.com/w/kathrir-autumnkitsune/a/runetech-technology ) However, these methods are tricky at best, and downright dangerous at worst. To add to that, runestones and runetech are restricted by I.M.P.S (The Investigators of Magic for Public Safety) until they can find a way to make them less volatile.
