Aether

Manifestation

Few are able to manipulate and use the aether, and far fewer are able to see it. Powerful psionic individuals may catch glimpses of the aether and a few alien species have the innate ability to view the aether without effort.
The aether appears to exist on a different plane than reality, always present but unobservable to the naked eye. It appears differently to everyone, but it is commonly described as a violent and stormy ocean. Currents, tides, and forces are affecting and being affected by the physical world.

Localization

In areas where the separation between the aether and the material world is thin, there may be 'pools' or 'streams' of psionic energy. These areas are often referred to as 'nodes' and 'ley lines' respectively. In these areas, it is easier to perform psionic feats.
There are also areas where the separation between the planes of existence is greater, and in these areas, one may not be able to sense or manipulate the aether at all.
