These massive powerful beasts are fierce predators to many animals.

Basic Information

Anatomy

The aleone's body is like that of a lion's, only larger and more powerful. It walks on four legs, and the hind legs are longer than the front legs. The aleone has feathery wings coming out of its back, and a wingspan of about 20 feet. They have long smooth tails, typically about 12 feet in length, which end as spikes of various different lengths.

Growth Rate & Stages

When an aleone is born, it's typically about the size of a lion cub, and its mane is very short. The aleone are born without wings, and they usually develop them within the first 3 months that they're born. After about 4 months, once a aleone cub's wings are fully formed, the father begins to teach them how to hunt, and by the time a winged lion is 5 years old it's nearly fully grown, being sort of a teenager winged lion, and leaves the family when it's about 6 years old.

Ecology and Habitats

These creatures are fond of the mountains, and can often be found in caves.

Dietary Needs and Habits

They hunt deer and antelope and the like, as well as other larger cats such as tigers and lions; they dislike pigs and hogs. They store up food in the fall for their hibernation in the wintertime.

The winged lions hibernate during the winter, and wake up in early spring.

Aleone shed feathers somewhat regularly, and those fallen feathers will often be collected by humans and other humanoids to crafting and production of various items.

Facial characteristics

The aleone have round faces with a stoic expression shown in the forehead. Their eyes are round, and their ears are smallish triangles protruding from the upper sides of their faces.
