Personalities & Background
Personalities and background will be handled quite differently the Time of the Takers campaign. Rather than merely selecting Personality Traits, Ideals, Bonds, and Flaws individually, these components of character creation will be developed during session zero through the completion of a series of background activities. These activities will assist players with establishing more robust and comprehensive characters. This process will incorporate the rolling of ability scores in the hope that character statistics have as much impact on character personalities as the players' concept of character backgrounds have on character statistics. Players should be thinking about what the components of their character's personality are and how they inform the way in which they will role-play their character in both combat and non-combat situations.
For the purposes of selecting a particular Background all backgrounds are permitted from all official 5e sources with the exception of any that are tied to a particular specific organization, god, or geographic location (Mulmaster Aristocrat and Uthgardt Tribe Member as examples of prohibited choices). If a particular background would make sense for a player's character that is on the prohibited list, the DM may be willing to work out a modification to the background within the Kanadire framework that makes sense.
