Crumbling

The Crumbling... the planet splitting, disastrous event that breaks an era, and lays the strange for the era after it. It is an event talked about all throughout the world, in every culture, town, and family, and it leaves all of civilization quivering in fear.
This marks, for many, the end of time, the end of days, the end of civilization, the end of history. The impacts of a Crumbling are as unpredictable as when it’s about to happen. Thousand, even billions, of animals and people can die, with points in history existing were humanity has teetered on the brink of extinction, and it can last for thousands of years or little can happen at all and it can be over in a week. Regardless of the length of time or the changes that take place, the world is changed, for better or for worse.

Manifestation

During the Crumbling, the plates of the planet’s crust accelerate at a rapid pace, far beyond the rate they normally move. Tectonic movement that normally takes millennia suddenly happens in a few weeks, a month, it is not set in stone the degree to which the world is changed, what is changed, how long the Crumbling last, or even when it happens. The entire continents can be ripped in half, and in some case seas of magma surface to roll over the land. Ground and soil is almost always upheaved, as the earth begins to shift and move. Entire countries have been berried beneath rock and lava or have sunken beneath the waves of the sea. Often times peices of, or even whole, continents have drifted from their previous positions, to collide with other continents or form entirely new land masses, and taking swaths of people, animals, and cultures with them. For better or for worse, the world is always changed by a Crumbling, and a new course of history is set in motion... until he next one.
