Auximâle

The Lands of the Mad God

Written by Jude E Barnaby

A group of scholars examine the cliffs of Belle Terre for erosion, and track the area back to a time when it smoothly sloped into the sea. A group of witches cavort in Marais Auxim, dodging aligators and unseelie fae alike as they perform a ritual to seal away the tendrils of the dark gods. A group of farmers herd ants while riding spiders through dense woods, looking over their shoulders for dangerous beasts in Les Ourais. This and much more occurs in the land known as Auximale, the northernmost country of Kaldis, and perhaps one of the strangest.

Geography

Auximâle is the land of the Auximalians who moved there in 850 EG at the behest of their prophet Bartholome. Auximâle has 7 major areas: the Auxim Swamplands (called Marais Auxim), the Thronelands (Achiselure), the Wormwood (Les Ourais), the Bartholome Plains (Les Plaines Bartholomées), the Bogs of Hivon (les Marécages D'Hivon), Belle Terre, and the Sunkissed Islands (Les Ïles Solbaisées). Marais Auxim is a vast swamp which dominates the middle of the country. Achiselure lies west of Marais Auxim and is the seat of the capital, it is a large tiered valley through which the Lequeselle River runs. Les Ourais is a vast and dense forest to the east of Marais Auxim filled with giant insects and large fungi. Les Plaines Bartholomées lies east of Les Ourais and is a lowland plain that is quite fertile but lacking in beautiful scenery. les Marecages D'Hivon is a bogland to the west of Achiselure and is less watery than Marais Auxim, but just as spooky and deadly. Belle Terre lies to the west of les Marécages D'Hivon and is quite craggy, sheer drops into the sea and tall mountains as far as the eye can see. Les Ïles Solbaisées are a set of islands off the coast of Les Ourais and are known for their bright sun, and being the domain of the Mad God, Dorth, and his followers.
