The Zenith Scroll

It's an interesting find since the dating does not seems to match the ruins they were found in.
— Ernist Vonleu

The Zenith Scroll was found during the twenty-third century after discovering the ruins of, what historians later called, the City of Graves. Historians are still amazed by the prestine conditions of the paper scroll as it has been burried for over two thousand years.

Historical difficulties

The main difficulties with the Zenith Scroll are the lack of understanding of the content since it's written in a language that is unknown to historians. Due to this, among other things, the scroll has been dated to being written pre-Shattering. Historians have gathered hints of the contents from various annotations that have been made detailing parts of the original texts. These annotations are made in an old runic language that has similarities to Dwarven. While the original writing is clearly pre-Shattering, historians are not in agreement over the dating of the annotations.

Content

The Zenith Scroll is a prophetic piece of writing, which historians suspect is related to the Shattering. The original creator wanted to document the prophecy had by many people all over the country. It was important to record this shared experience, even though at the time it was not clear what the prophecy was about.   As far as historians are aware, it is written in a prose-like manner detailing the visions of the prophecy, while not going into details about the events that the prophecy hints at. This leads historians to believe it was written by a civilian and not by a scolar, making it even more remarkable that the piece is so intact.

Current state

The scroll looks to be in a very similar state than when it was found as there are no records of the piece changing over time. The paper still feels suple and hasn't torn anywhere. Besides that, it doesn't look like there are any pieces missing from both the paper itself as well as from the wooden supports the paper was wrapped around. The piece is archived in the Grand Library of Trisza. In the main hall there is a copy of part of the Zenith Scroll that has been put up on display.

The Shattering

The Shattering is was a historic event that changed the world into what it is now. Historians are not yet sure what exactly happened during the Shattering, nor do they know if it was a single event or a period. The Shattering is the event that sparked a new dating system and is considered the beginning of modern times.

Ooo, intriguing! I like that historians have been able to get a vague gist of the contents through the annotations made in the margins. I hope one day that they find a way to be able to translate the whole thing.

This is great... I'm keen to find out more about the City of Graves and the Grand Library both.
