The beautiful city of atlantis sank beneath the waves, burying those who stayed under the water.

Over the course of several hours, the city of atlantis sunk under the waves. Any who stayed on the islands sunk with it, as at that point there was no escape. Only a few Atlantians survived the ordeal, mainly those who were not present on the islands.
